Exceptional Quality
We have a some solid wood stair treads that look beautiful but are slippery to the point of being scary for older pets and people. The carpet pile on these is really rich and thick and has a slightly padded feel to it when stepped on. What makes these treads different from most, besides the quality carpet, is the fact that they cover the nose of the stair treads. They were a little harder to install than our previous ones that just stuck to the top of the tread without going over the nose, but the fact that they can be easily lifted and repositioned really helps. I cut a scrap piece of wood that was used to keep them centered while positioning them before sticking them down. The front edge appears to have a thin piece of metal embedded in the tread. It's bent at a pretty sharp 90 degree angle so they didn't fit my treads perfectly since mine have a rounded front edge but they still looked good. I also wanted a piece placed on the flat floor of a landing and I was able to flatten and bend the metal until it laid pretty flat on the floor and that worked well also.Just one last thing to say to those people who are worried about these becoming permanently stuck or leaving a sticky adhesive residue on your wood floors if they are installed for a year or so. Don't worry! I think they have got the adhesive figured out, I had my old ones stuck for almost a year and they lifted up just as easily as they did the day they were installed. Think of it like the type of adhesive on a post-it note. It sticks pretty good but comes off easily and can be stuck again and again. We will actually be reusing the old one we just removed on the stairs going into the basement! The bottom line is these treads will help protect your wood stairs and look great doing it. More importantly they will help to keep your family safe when going up and down those formerly slippery stairs.

Only a couple of misses, but
These stair treads miss the mark in two areas, but these fails can easily be remedied. First of all the adhesive is weak. You can literally touch it and not have it stick to your finger, so how is it going to stick to the step in any meaningful way? It's not. Second, it folds over the edge of the step - which is a great feature, but in doing so, it forces your foot to turn slightly upward, which contradicts the downward trajectory that a foot naturally assumes when walking. This can cause a loss of - or feeling of the loss of balance when walking down the stairs and is a little resistive when going up the stairs. This can be overcome, I think, with just getting used to it. I think being aware of it will prevent an actual fall, but it does make you tipsy if you are not aware of it or if you aren't careful. That said - these are actually some of the best stair treads I've come across. Unlike others, they cover the stair all the way to the back and, as stated, they do cover the front of the step to provide coverage over the edge as well. And they look great.

Nice & Thick Durable Feeling Carpet Stair Treads
We are removing the carpet from our stairs - mostly because our cats love shredding it. But we still wanted something to cushion the steps and reduce noise. These carpet treads are made of really high quality feeling carpet. They are nice and thick. The back covering peels off so you can just stick them right to the stairs. While we haven’t completely used them yet, they feel like they will stay in place really well. I peeled the backing off one to see how well it would stick to a tile floor. We have 12 stairs to the second floor and then a step down in kitchen to the garage. So I used one on the step down. It didn’t budge a bit even when I really danced around on it.I’m hoping these will hold up really well for us. Time will tell. For now, they at least look great and feel like they are really high quality.
