We use these with our 6 year old for a number of things. He has one he draws pictures in then I help him write what the picture is underneath (he called this his "book"). And an other we use for bible study where I read him a story, he writes a summary (with help) then draws a picture.He loves it as they make him feel very grown up but the halved pages mean he's not overwhelmed by to much drawing space or to much writing space.
