Expensive for what it offers
I picked this up at a discount from Amazon Warehouse, it certainly isn't value at the full price. You do get a mains power pack so each port can deliver the stated output. The supplied wire is USB 3.0 Type B to USB C, I wanted to connect this a tower PC so had to source a USB 3.0 Type B to Type A.There's a good selection of connectors on the front, inc. a power only USB A which runs a Amazon Echo Dot fine. There's also a power only USB C, a normal USB C, two USB 3 type A and 4 USB 2 type A. I plugged an SD-card reader into the USB C and it was recognised by Windows 10 at once. One annoyance is that with the units power lead and multiple USB wires it does slide about on the desktop, the feet are very slightly rubberised but not enough to hold in position. The fit and finish of the anodised and polished case is nicely done. Can't fault the functionality but you are paying quite a premium.

Close to being perfect!
I was looking for a new USB-C hub and I had many requirements which only this USB hub could meet:- 6 or more type A USB ports, some 3.0- At least one USB C data port- At least two charging ports, one USB C one type A- Mains powered so that it could deliver strong charging performance- Charging should work even of the USB data is not (ie computer is off)This Macally delivers on all the above! Other positive things are:- It's smaller than it looks on the pictures, so sits nicely on my desk- I wasn't a fan of the angled position of the ports, but having used it now I am sold! This is a lot more convenient than the flat/horizontal USB hubs- Build quality is verySo what is this USB hub missing to be perfect?1) As per other reviewers there should be more USB 3.0 ports2) The USB C 3.0 port should be really upgraded to USB 3.1 (10gbps)3) The USB C charging port should support power delivery supporting delivery of 60w4) They should add a couple more USB type C data ports, it is very hard to find USB hubs wiuth multiple USB type C data ports

Generally good
I had an unpowered hub before and devices attached to it would freeze, so I bought this powered hub hoping that it was the lack of power that was causing the issue. That seems to be the case as the connected devices no longer freeze, but only if I plug this hub into the high-powered port on my laptop (which seems a little odd - that that was the point of having a self-powered unit?).Also, the display port output just doesn't work but that's not an issue as I have a spare USB-C port on the laptop so the monitor is plugged directly into that (and yes, I've updated all drivers). So it fixed my main problem and is worth the money for that but it would have been great to see a little more of the "just plug it in and it works" promise of USB.

Decent enough but not perfect
It’s pretty efficient but doesn’t seem to fast charge. Does what I wanted it to do however and is handy. Little pricey perhaps

Doesn't work with mac
The product simply isn't recognised by macOS Catalina and is therefore a completely useless piece of kit. The FAQ on MacAlly's website are rubbish. I have tried calling the customer support number a couple of times but the number just rings out.

let down by the USB3 to SS cable
the USB3 to SS cable that comes with this is terrible quality and creates a potentially disastrous intermittent connection.

Delivers all it promises but could be more refined given the price
This MacAlly 7 Port USB Hub looks and feels well made and in the package you get a UK mains adaptor, a PC connection lead (with proprietary plug - so don't lose it) to USB C plug, user guide and, of course, the hub.The power adaptor which can operate on 100-240V is bigger and heavier than the hub itself and features an output of 12v @ 4000mA. The adaptor runs cool even when the hub is under high load and features a dimly lit LED "power on" indicator. The hub itself stands on two very effective non-slip feet. The hub connects to your main host using the proprietary input lead supplied (I have never seen one of these before), the host connection is via a USB C plug. Along the slanted front of the hub are 9 USB sockets - 1 x USB C, 2 x USB 3.0, 4 x USB 2.0, one full-size USB charging port plus a USB C charging port. What I do not understand is why the unit features 4 USB 2.0 ports when the majority of new computer products use USB 3.0 or USB C interfaces (especially in the case of MacBooks etc). I would have thought that given the retro-compatibility of USB 2.0 with USB 3.0 it would have been more sensible to make all the full-size USB ports on this hub USB 3.0 compliant. I feel that given the current price of this product it should be close to compromise free. In addition, the ports aren't illuminated and don't have LED indicators, again, not essential but desirable at the price. This hub installed perfectly on my Windows 10 64bit i7 12GB RAM PC and has worked flawlessly with a wide range of peripherals; PC speakers; external HDD; external SSD; various USB sticks and others. In addition, the hub charges my Moto G6 phone and iPad effectively too.In summary, this hub delivers all it promises albeit at a price, but it needs to shake off the legacy of 4 USB 2.0 connections and upgrade them to USB 3.0 to be competitive at its price point.
