Sensors DOA
Both sensors were not working as designed. I was able to connect to the sensor and get readings, but all the values are zero. No proximity/gestures were working, nor was the light sensor. Incredibly disappointed. If you're intending to use this to measure the amount of light in a completely dark room it'll be accurate, but any time there's actual light you're trying to measure, it probably won't work.

Great Sensor
I used the Sparkfun library for this and it works great. I use it to swipe through menus on an OLED thermostat. The library has code for basic genstures but according to Adafruit more complex gestures are possible. It’s definitely a step up over using buttons and works perfectly.

Gesture sensor did not work
I got four of these and the gesture sensor (the reason I bought the chip) did not work on any of them.

Good quality, works very well with Arduino
Works with both SparkFun and Adafruit APDS9960 library without any issue.

does not work
The media could not be loaded. These do not work. They both register successfully at address 0x39 and thats it.I tested both devices. Sensors do not function.

Excellent RGB/Gesture/Proximty sensor!
This is a great 3 or 4-in-1 sensor. I hooked it up to an ESP32 and within minutes had it reading RGB values (see photo), proximity (see video) and hand gestures (e.g. moving left/right/up/down, moving closer/farther). For this price I could not have hoped for better performance or quality.

Gesture detection not working
Proximity, light and RGB functions work fine. Gesture detection does not. Used Sparkfun's library and guide. Tried with various MCU's, on breadboard, direct connect. No change. Returned the 4 units.

As advertised
I feel fortunate to find these, as I have a friend with MS and could use a gesture-controller. More data will become available in the Arduino forums as this new part gets traction in the maker community
