Berserk Volume 42

Great addition
It got me emotional knowing volume 41 was Miura’s last. The story has been through so much and it gives me hope to see Mori continue his legacy. There isn’t as much action in this one but there was a lot more emotion felt in each page. Seeing Guts loose almost made me cry. He’s been through so much and he’s rewarded with even more loss. I loved seeing the character development from the black swordsman arc to where we currently are. He was originally the edgy Midwest teenager coming out of a Hot Topic with a spiked choker around his neck and skinny jeans. Fast forward to a more selfless character who understands the strengths and limitations of himself. While he’s filled with rage and anger, he trust the people around him because he’s only one person.I hope to see this story come to an end sometime, but with the length it takes to produce one chapter, I’d be surprised if I’d even be alive before it ends. It’s truly a piece of work

Not a single swing.
On the surface I thought there’s no way anyone but Kentaro Miura could tell me how guts was going to cut Griffith in two. But deep down I know there’s almost 35 years of examples, guidelines they are able to follow in order to create a seemingly unnoticeable exchange in story tellers. I believe it’s possible for the team to take their time and prove it’s possible to finish this story. This isn’t a cash grab, or passion project. It’s a promise to your friend and his legacy.….It’s too big to be a sword…

RIP Kentaro Miura.
The resonant absence of Miura's artistic touch is palpable in this first post-Miura BERSERK release.Much praise to the team in continuing the story. It's evident that they're doing their best, but it's impossible to replace who has been lost.Long-time BERSERK fans will feel the sting of Miura's passing even more reading this volume. The new art style is a tough pill to swallow.

All Concerns Erased
I was admittedly nervous to see how the series would proceed but all of my concerns were put to rest. The letter to readers at the end (along with the comic) was extremely touching and perfectly addressed all of my thoughts on the series moving forward. I loved it, no notes, and I can’t wait for the next volume.
