I have both vintage and modern bikes in my garage. With this simple adapter, it is possible for me to use one of my modern wheels on the older bike in a pinch (or permanently if you like). Just make sure the cassette is matching (or the freehub for a swap)

I got these to try to use a thru axel 12x142 wheel in my QR cross bike frame. This converter fits perfectly in the wheel hub and converts it to QR x 142mm. However, the key thing that I forgot is that most modern QR hubs have 135mm spacing, so the hub was still too wide to fit in the dropouts. If you have an unusual QR 142mm frame, this would be great, but this will not be helpful for most frames.
