Frankly I can't believe how nice this is. It's solid as a rock so far, it was easy to assemble the dial handles, and live center (a little tricky getting it to mount firmly). But all in all it's a really nice product. I look for two solid months evaluating lathes and frankly decided to go with this one because it was made in Germany. I also needed a small lathe and this one fits just about anywhere. I'm still waiting for the cutting tools to show up but I did get the Chuck for the Tail stock, so I mounted that and used a center bit, followed by a drill bit, to punch a hole in a five millimeter diameter bar. I have never owned or operated a lathe before, but this made it very easy to punch a hole with precision in such a small diameter bar. Check my video to see how small it is and if the size fits your needs I would highly recommend this device.

I researched watchmakers’ lathes for a long time before choosing this. The engineering is impressive and everything functions properly and smoothly. I even took.the chuck apart and it went back together with no problem - but remember to do it in the correct order and follow the instructions about how to lock in the heads in order. It runs quietly and smoothly. The accessories are readily available through the Proxxon website. You have to use their items as the fittings are unusual like the M16 1-pitch threading for the chuck and the clamping nut for the ER11 collets. Also the tail stock has an odd MK 0/short fitting if you want to add the drill chuck - but the chuck is available for a very reasonable price through t the manufacturer. I am not sure why the collet system is so pricey but it is much cheaper buying it from Proxxon online directly. Granted the clamping nut is unique and perhaps the collets are special. I have ordered these as well and will soon find out.

Accessories are very over priced and overall a disappointing purchase. Quality was average and did not reflect in the price. There are better, more capable options for the $$$.

If I could give 0 stars I would this machine is way to small to do anything and you pay $800 for just the lathe. Then you turn around and pay another $125 for the tools that aren’t worth a crap. The jaw system sucks and the machine is way underpowered!!! Do not buy
