Great product, better instructions needed.
It works great! Think Elmer's white glue for clothes. Yes I know that sounds weird, but rather than sticking things together it creates a waterproof barrier on clothes. Smells like Elmer’s feels like a wax coating. Needs to be reapplied after each washing. Be sure to wash the clothes prior to application, apply the product and rub into the fabric, flip it inside out and dry it only until it’s 80% dry. Allow it to air dry afterwards!

Good Protection, Smells for 2-3 weeks
I just did my Kuhl Kollusion "waxed" cotton jacket with this stuff. Note the Kuhl isn't a traditionally waxed cotton and doesn't have a waxy feel, so I'm not sure this is a perfect product for it (that said, Kuhl does sell a wax bar for rewaxing). I washed my jacket without thinking and that did reduce it's water resistance. So I thought I'd try this product as it looked like the easiest to apply. And it was easy to apply! Just follow the video instructions. It did restore the water resistance to about new condition, but the jacket is not waterproof". Rain will bead on the jacket, but run the jacket under a faucet and squeeze the fabric and it will "wet" the fabric still. I did compare the treated jacket to a similar new one I just purchased, and the result is as good as new, in my opinion. As many said, the jacket did smell like vinegar after the treatment. I hung it in the garage, and the smell slowly reduced, at 3 weeks it is almost completely gone, there is only a tiny whiff of vinegar now if I press my nose into it and inhale. Just plan on airing your treated clothing out for a couple weeks after the treatment.

Good results
I was very satisfied with this product. I used it on a waxed cotton vest I previously tried to treat with the Filson paraffin-based wax. The results were somewhat uneven. The Nikwax helped me even out the blotchiness. The odor isn’t the nice waxy smell of the paraffin, but it isn’t unpleasant. All in all very happy with the results. I should mention it darkened the color of the vest, but looks very rustic to me.

Mfg recommended this . . .
Browning’s care tag lists this product. This well worn jacket probably 20-25 years old was overdue. Soaked upmost of the bottle in 3 applications in 2 days, including careful coverage of pockets, pouches, seams and collar. Sheds water like new, looks old, worn. Smells mildly like vinegar. Will hang up till next season and start again.

Works ok for a minute
I applied to my work pants and it seemed to work but after 30 min working in the rain my pants were wet.I've washed my pants and reapplied this spray several times and the max amount of waterproofing time is about 30 min.

Great for hunting and camping gear.
This company makes excellent waterproofing for non-cotton garments. This for-cotton product is very convenient and quicker to use than rubbing and then warning Bees Wax into cotton. It appears to work as well but does not cosmetically appear to have been as even a coating and has shade variations. Not as good for casual but fashionable city clothing as it is for camping gear. Great for hunting and camping gear.

Great product
Worked great on a waxed cotton hunting jacket. Use as directed and let it air dry for a few days in fresh air. Very little odor and extremely water proof. Water beaded up all day in the rain with one application. Bottle is large enough to treat a jacket 2 times.

The Easiest Way To Waterproof Waxed Cotton.
I've owned a Koolah bush hat for 25+ years, as well as a number of waxed cotton jackets and this is the easiest way I've found to keep these items performing like the day I bought them. This simple spray-on, wipe-in Nikwax treatment keeps the water running off and the items looking great. Over the years, the colors have darkened, but waxed cotton has a character that synthetic fibers cannot match, just like leather develops as it ages. There is a slight odor that lingers for a couple of days following each treatment, but it soon fades. Nikwax is water-based and nontoxic, so all you get is a great waterproofed item that lasts longer than comparable synthetics. Waxed cotton lets you utilize natural materials, and Nikwax is the easiest way to keep them looking and wearing great well after synthetics have been worn and thrown away.
