Bolts and Wings are Well Made - The Storage Box Not So Much
I try to keep a varied selection of sizes of toggle bolts on hand. I do not need them often but when I do need them to securely hang something on a wall or ceiling, or anchor something (like a pull-out trash bin in a kitchen cabinet(!)), few things work as well they do. That is why I ordered these toggle bolts. There are enough of them (25) to keep me supplied for quite some time, and I thought the plastic case would be a convenient way to store them. (But see below). These toggle bolts did not disappoint…1) The bolts and wings are solidly made, and the threads are well machined, allowing the wings to screw onto the bolts quickly and easily.2) The springs on the wings have enough tension for them to immediately and fully open when pushed through the wall, ceiling, floor, etc.3) The drive profile is deep enough to firmly engage a screwdriver and keep it from easily stripping out when tightening the bolt.4) The cost – about .40 cents each when I ordered them – is in line with prices I have found in the local stores. What did disappoint…1) The storage box. The seller describes it as “a transparent, high-strength plastic box”. Two thirds of this description is true, the box is transparent, and it is plastic, but it is not high-strength – not even close. The plastic is thin. You can easily take your thumb and a finger and press the top and bottom together. If you keep this storage box in a drawer where it is protected from things falling on it, or do not drop it, it will likely survive intact for a while. But regardless of where you keep this box, I believe the hinges will begin to weaken significantly after just being opened and closed a few times. Even more concerning are the latches. They are a pain to get closed. When you push them to snap them shut the plastic is not rigid enough for them to lock together without having to fight with it some. This would not be a big deal except for the fact that the seller makes these storage boxes a selling point. You may find this storage box adequate for storing the bolts; for me, I will likely be using a zip lock bag of some kind. One thing to remember when ordering these toggle bolts is the size of the hole needed to be drilled to use them. The hole must be at least 5/8”. (See picture).

Versatile kit
Many times using drywall plastic anchors to hang items on the wall turns out to be insufficient. That's where these toffee bolts come into play. This kit contains several different size "wings" to handle varying loads on the wall. When you choosing a location for hanging make sure there is a "hollow" behind the drywall. You don't want to drill into a stud. When you fold the wing and push it through the drilled hole the wings expand and create a strong brace against greater surface area of the wall board than you will ever get with a plastic anchor. This is a great kit to keep on hand.
