Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod

Beautiful engineering
This is beautifully engineered! It has the weighty feel of quality about it. The finish is superb and there are no sharp edges to damage you or car. The parts that contact your car window are rubber-coated. I use it in conjunction with a medium ball-head (also by Manfrottto) and it supports my 150-500mm zoom lens/camera combination with ease. It may seem expensive, but the resale price of Manfrotto items is good so it may not be as dear in the long-run. An excellent accessory that I wouldn't be without.

Three Stars
It is too high for the size of the window.

Just what I wanted
I bought this as I wanted something light and easilly portable to take on foreign holidays. This meets that requirement perfectly for me.Beanbags are good for suporting a telephoto lens if you are shooting at fast speed but this will allow longer exposures.Only downside is the 3/8" screw does not fit my smaller ball-and-socket head so have had to order a converter, but that is no great problem or cost.

Description wrong
This item WILL NOT mount on things upto 60mm - 15mm is more like it. It is meant for a window after all.Appears to be well made. Is it worth the money? Not sure yet. Will use it for a while before deciding.Edit: Tried this on my car window and found it was unsuitable - more to do with the window than the product, I think. On a different car it might be fine. Great service from Amazon in handling the return and refund.

Does what it says on the tin
Despite feeling like a precarious way to mount a few hundred pounds worth of camera and lens, this device is more than capable of the job. Yes there are cheaper alternatives but would you want to risk it???
