Great Read!
I first purchased this book when it came out as a paperback. I liked it so much I re-read it numerous times; when I found it for my Kindle I quickly re-purchased it because my paperback copy was falling apart.Warning Spoilers!Keira is a great main character - she is someone you can easily sympathize with. She has had a rough life - stuck in the middle of her parents divorce (her parents were from different worlds - her father from the middle east who expected his women to submit and her mother a new day feminist). When she was 16 she was visiting her father and went to a party and she was raped by a boy at the party. She only went to the party to try and get a glimpse of her crush Kalen Nuri. The boy who raped her boasted about having "relations" with a loose girl and in that area any girls who are loose are considered lowly sluts. Anyway, Kalen heard the stories but didn't know they were about Keira. Turns out he knew who she was but felt he was too old for her. After her rape Keira returns to the States and makes a new life for herself. She has been through hell but is taking control of her life. Years later her father promised her hand in marriage (without consenting her) to a lowly thief; Kalen finds out about this and tries to stop it. He cannot allow the marriage because it could cause problems for his brother, the countries ruler. Instead he offers her his protection and brings her to London where he sets her up in her own apartment where she thinks she'll be safe - this is only a ploy as he is trying to get her kidnapped so he can come to her rescue in his desert kingdom. After Keira has been kidnapped Kalen comes to her rescue by saying she cannot marry the other man because she is already married to him. She agrees to avoid being forced into marriage with the other low-life (he is what some might call a rebel extremist). They end up getting "married" and have a wedding night. He takes her to his "kingdom" where they are happy for a brief time. Then the truth comes out (that she was not a virgin - something that was beyond her control) and he dumps her (kind of). She goes home and soon he chases after her and they live happily ever after. It might not sound like a good ending but it was; it really was.I love books by Jane Porter; I think she is a great author and I like romances that I can relate to. I kind of wish Kalen was a real person sometimes :)

The Sheikh's Virgin (Surrender to the Sheikh) I did not like this book. The heroine--raised in Dallas, Texas is emotionally traumatized by both her father and the hero. The writer tries to place the story in the backdrop of middle eastern culture...but I just couldn't stomache the whole thing. I did not feel as if the writer captured the emotional connection between the two...if you've read Michelle Reid's "A Passionate Marriage" you'll understand what I'm talking about. The writer was not able to capture and present to the reader the feeling that this couple was connected from the soul--and that is very critical for these sheikh type stories. For these types of books to work--in my western mindset--the writer needs to portray that this is a love beyond loves...there are certain words that she needed to use to convey that--that I felt she missed.

Good story
This story has a lot going on to keep you reading. The main characters are interesting and well written. The secondary characters are exciting and the descriptions of the Desert and how Berber warriors live made this story extremely interesting. So why the four stars you ask - simple, I would have liked an epilogue.
