I hadn't experienced merino wool before and these were my first introduction to the material, having been told it was the thing for keeping warm and dry for winter sailing.On my first trip I wore them inside a pair of thicker ski socks and when the day was over the moisture from my feet had been expelled from the inner merino wool sock into the outer ski sock, the inner merino sock remained warm and dry. I have since purchased a second set and am going to get a full base layer of marino wool in time.I reckon the 80%+ marino content is the way to go, you get the magic self drying wicking properties but it's cheaper, a bit more robust, and machine washable.I will be abandoning the additional ski sock in future in favour of just the one sock per foot, clearly the second sock wasn't necessary.I am also not a woman but the socks go onto my feet all the same.The only con here is that even at a mix of 80% marino and 20% hardier materials the socks are a touch delicate and I wouldn't expect them to do well if I were to walk around in them without shoes, but with shoes on they do just fine.

Bought these for a trip to Iceland - they kept my feet warm, fit well (Ladies UK size 8) and didn't slip down at all throughout the day.

I have fat calf muscles and am really sensitive to any man-made materials. I have bought cotton hiking socks that have caused feet swelling and after cutting them the exposed elastic caused an allergy. These socks are so different. Although they are tight, it doesn't cause my feet to swell. I hiked up The Cobbler in Argyll and no blisters! They are so comfy and not too hot as they wick away the sweat. I am going to buy more pairs. Excellent product.

My partner is wearing these she is a size 5 shoe and this size M fits perfectly, she says they are super warm and very soft. She says they give the same feel as having thick Woolley socks on but that they don't make your foot tight in your shoe/boot. Merino wool is ideal for socks as it wicks moisture away and helps keep you warm or cool dependant on the temperature. She is definitely a fan of these socks and I get brownie points, win/win.

Update: Holes in the pink and blue paírsUgly colour combo but so warm, they don't slip when walking. Good elasticity and wick away moisture. I will only repurchase if they release an all black or white version.
