The 5QT cast iron Dutch oven is heavy, durable, and holds heat beautifully, giving my bread that crisp, golden crust and perfect rise. The lid traps steam exactly the way you want for sourdough. My loaves come out consistently gorgeous. The fact that it includes all the essential sourdough tools—a banneton proofing basket, liner, lame, and accessories—makes it an amazing value. The banneton helps create that classic round shape, and the lame is sharp and easy to control, so scoring designs is effortless. Review: You can't go wrong with this pan! - I've had the 7.5 quart CrustLove Cast Iron baker since October 2025. I bake sourdough every week and this pan is an absolute workhorse. Sure, it's heavy. After all, its quality cast iron. It absorbs and holds heat extremely well. The size is exceptional for large batard loaves, but can aldo to boule shaped loaves as well. I typically use a bread sling, but have also used parchment paper. I have had zero issues with any kind of rust, or defects. It does amazing with plain sourdough as well as loaves with inclusions. I typically preheat it to 475° Fahrenheit and then bake my loaf for 20 minutes covered, then lower the heat to 450° Fahrenheit and bake uncovered for 25 minutes and get perfect crusty loaves every time. I love this pan so much that I'm ordering a second one.

This 7.2 quart Dutch Oven is the best single value I've ever gotten from Amazon. The quality is second to none, and the inclusion of extras like an oversized banneton (proofing basket) with liner, a bench knife, plastic scraper, dough whisk and silicone loaf lifter are worth the selling price alone. The USA-written instruction manual ("Starter Book") is clearly written and has great information about care and maintenance. I followed the procedure to clean it and further "season' it with a thin coating of vegetable oil. This made it non-stick even during its first use. Great for making sourdough or any oversized loaf - - or bake two boules at once. This is a heavy, oversized pan. Heat distribution in the oven is excellent - - my levain loaf came out completely and evenly cooked. This should last a lifetime or longer! The included tools are not the fanciest but are quite functional. Again, the price is outrageously fair and quite a bargain.
