Pocketstrings allows you to practice and improve your guitar skills in guitar unfriendly spots such as: cars, airplanes, the office, school, dinner table, and virtually an other place your pocket will fit, but your guitar won't.

Does what it's supposed to
Ordered this for my brother, a guitar enthusiast who travels a lot, so thought it was a cool gift idea so he could still play without lugging his guitar around. He loved it. My only gripe is in the display picture on amazon, it shows a long black plastic body, and the string area (I don't play not sure if there's a more technical term) with a wood-like finish on that part. Upon delivery the packaging was small, I found out it comes "closed" the black piece in the picture slides so you open it to expose the string portion- which is fine, but the one I got didn't have the wood-like finish under the strings, the entire gadget was all black. It obviously doesn't effect the way it works, but esthetically, it would've looked nicer (and not as cheap) if it looked like the one in the display picture amazon shows.

Gift
I got this for my dad who is teaching himself to play guitar. He liked it and thought it was useful for getting a beginners fingers calloused and for practicing cords. He thought it would be better if he could actually strum though, and hear what was being played.

Great way to practice chord placements
I got this to practice getting my fingers in the right locations for chords. I used it on an airplane where I couldn't really practice on my travel guitar. I keep it by my bed, and try to put my fingers on the chords without looking. I don't know if I could do much more with it, since you can't really strum, I prefer an actual guitar for anything further.

Somewhat shorter than needed
I like it but think I would need more space on the right side of my hand when pressing strings. I guess adding one more fret would help. And also the tool is very light and short, should there be a chance to add f.e. some extension that you would feel like that you are holding long something like guitar neck would help, I believe. It would not have to be heavy, expensive or difficult to make - just drill a holl on the end and make possible to fix there something like telescopic pipe. You want it - you use it, you don't like - you don't use it.But generally, this is a nice product.

This four fret version is a good product and well made
This four fret version is a good product and well made. I would recommend getting the six fret version of this practice tool.. It gives you more frets to work with during your practice session.

Poorly Constructed
Poorly constructed and useless for practicing because you can't make the tension realistic on the strings without bowing it to the point where the cover won't go back on.

Great!
Great for practice if you're a rhythm player. Obvs not a good choice for moving lead lines. It's a good size that I can carry in my purse or store in my desk drawer.

cool thing to carry around.
great little toy. i wish it had a built-in spot for the tuning hex wrench, and maybe some spare strings. very portable. i probably would give the 6-fret version five stars.

A ridiculously priced piece of garbage which has no use whatseover
Useless piece of plastic which DOES NOT DO ANYTHING.Ridiculously priced garbage. This looks like a portable instrument,iTS A PORTABLE PIECE OF CRAP which cannot be used for anythingin my opinion. Yes you can practce , but you can do that using a piece of wood !On the plus side a refund has been granted without question and I retuned the product unused . I really was dispapointed with what is in my opinion over priced useless rubbish

It's a great tool and does just what I expected
Others have mentioned the rough edges to the frets, but this doesn't put me off. It's a great tool and does just what I expected. I should, perhaps, have opted for the 6 fret version, but, for now, I'm very pleased.Wish they would do one for the Ukulele. My grandson would like that.

Nice but ...
Nice - but I wish they'd offer it in left hand version. Yes - you can change it over, but my handyman skills are as poor as my musical skills.

Pessima qualita'

0 stars for delivery
Have had the PocketString for a few days and so far I like it.BUT the delivery by Canpar was not good at all. ,They said delivery attempt failed twice. Both were at hours which I was at work. Theyleft a slip asking me to call them . Then it turned out that Re-delivery charges after 2 failed is 10 dollars. Also pick up location was 1 hour drive one way from where I live.Bottomline if you care about your customers, don't use Canpar
