Adjustable Black Fire Fender With Chrome Ends

Bought this to protect the carpet from hot coals that sometimes roll out of the fire.We have a small fireplace, but this fender is very adjustable and could easily fit, however when in place it looked too tall for such a small hearth so I have used it to frame around the outside edge of the fireplace instead and it looks great.The fender is easily assembled in seconds, and is done without the need for tools, you simply screw the Chrome ends in place and its done. The sides cannot be adjusted but the front has a good range of movement and should fit most fireplaces. The matt black steel from which its made is a decent thickness and should stand up well to the odd knock. The chrome end pieces have a matt appearance rather than a highly polished look, but doesn't detract from the overall look of the fender.This Fender is good value which would look good round any fireplace and is a must if you have a working fire or stove.

After trawling few the reviews and questions people have asked I still wasn't clear on whether this would fit my hearth. The seller hasn't done the best job with the description. So hopefully I can correct some of that. There are 7 parts in the box, 2 knobs, 2 corner brackets, 1 pair of short bars, 1 pair of longer bars and the centre piece that slides in the middle for your length adjustment. In the picture when you assemble the 2 "L" sections you are given only 2 choices for these to fit the width of your hearth, they are not adjustable. The choice of your 2 internal widths are 31cm or 43cm. For the length of your hearth, the part is 70cm, which slides on to the "L" section. For me I need the depth of 43cm, which makes the maximum length of the hearth it can fit is 130cm long. If you have a shallow hearth and can use the 31cm, the maximum length will be 154cm. To be honest I need to cut the 43cm length down, which should be fine with a hacksaw, it is a steel box section around 1mm thick. The quality overall is not too bad, it is good value for the price. The one I have does not seem to have been sprayed properly, but Will be hard to notice. The brackets and knobs are closer to brass colour than chrome, so I will have to spray them to match our fire. On the whole I'm pleased for the price I've paid.

Arrived about an hour ago, already assembled and fire on, looks great. It is slightly deeper than our hearth slates, so has to be angled, but my DH has said he'll cut it to make it fit - och well maybe be done in five years time. Great value and must save a fortune in replacing singed fireside rugs!

very light you can knock it easily but it looks good from a distance but it looks a bit cheap up close

Had a brass fender which was looking tatty and wanted to replace. Liked the look of this item (had already seen it in another catalogue at a much higher price) and when it arrived I was not disappointed. Lovely matt black with ends that I would describe more like gun-metal than chrome, but looks a lot more expensive than it was. Fitted my hearth perfectly. Excellent value for money.

This fender is incorrectly sized. The 'adjustable ranges are pure fantasy, as the side lengths do NOT adjust in any way. The item side lengths can only be made smaller with the use of a hacksaw!The front length is perfectly adjustable, and is as expected.Customer services were about as much use as a trap door in a canoe. A grasp of the English Language would definitely be useful. In reporting the sizing 'oversight', I received a reply stating that 'Unfortunately the item is not defective, you must have changed your mind'.Pathetic, frustrating and incompetent. Don't know the difference between Imperial and Metric. Avoid this joke of a product at all costs.

Looks fab. Has finished off the fireplace perfectly. Only negative is..... I would suggest sticking detail labels of each piece to assemble on the bottom side as tricky to get off. Having said that it’s so lovely I’ve just ordered another for fireplace at the other end of the lounge. Nothing not to like.
