This bag is big! This is a great feature, but it is something you want to be aware of if it is for a small child.We got this for my 11-year-old daughter, who is a softball player. We had seen similar bags, and she wanted one as the bag she was using didn't fit everything very well. This bag fits EVERYTHING. Cleats, batting helmet, fielding mask, hat, gloves, balls, bats, and then there is still so much space left for extra clothes, snacks, water bottles, and whatever else you need for practice or a game. The lower section where the cleats go is separated from the rest of the bag, which is a great touch to prevent dirt and mud from getting on the inside of the bag or on clothes, etc.The shoulder straps are lightly padded and adjustable, which is really nice. The back of the bag also has some padding to make it more comfortable, especially when a helmet or other pointy objects are in it. When she put this on, it was very large, taking up her entire back and bottom section. She even commented that it was very big. She is just about 56". That said, it didn't seem to bother her once her stuff was in it. I would say this is much bigger than most school backpacks. It reminds me of a smaller hiking backpack.This bag could easily be used for things other than sports. It could be used for hiking (technically a sport) or as a carry-on bag for a weekend trip. It is sturdy and stands on its own even with nothing in it, but it can also be flattened and folded very easily.We have a very happy 11-year-old - so five stars all the way!

While I chose this for a younger child (who had his heart set on a "real" ball bag just like his older brother), he can manage it (due to the fact that he carries less gear than OB), it seems sturdy enough to serve him for several seasons. Constructed of heavy nylon and sturdy metal zippers, it has oodles of features:-Adjustable, padded shoulder straps and a hanging hook to easily attach it to chain link and keep it off the ground and out of the dust. The back panel is mesh lined for extra ventilation during wear.-Fully lined interior in rugged nylon and features a zipped pocket for keeping small items securely stowed with mesh pockets on either side. The entire top of the bag zips free with dual zipper pulls, allowing full access to the contents.-The exterior features two generous bat pockets, one on either side (16 inches in length), two deep gusseted mesh pockets and a separate, ventilated shoe pocket (!) which zips closed. The front features anelastic holder (perfect for mitts) with an adjustable toggle latch ... along with yet-another deep pocket with a full zipper and a rain guard.The bag is well-stitched using good quality materials and built to last. Bright, vibrant colors. Very pleased. Two thumbs up!

We got this for my 6-year old son for baseball. This bag is great. Lots of room inside for a helmet, clothes, etc. Separate pocket for cleats so the bag stays clean, and a pocket for a bat. Also has a hook for hanging on gates. Very happy, my son will get years out of this.

This bag has a bottom zipper we put cleats in, and all her other gear fits into the large compartment.
