Excellent little book. The only criticism I have is that it concentrates mainly on the South of England. It would be nice for the North to get a bigger mention.

i can hardly begin to say how much i enjoyed this book. the vast amount of research gone in to it and the depth of investingation produce a comprhensive and authoritive reference source. i have spent many hours marveling at the querky and curious veriety of orniment and imagination of provincial crafts people in the time before pattern books and mass production. if you are slightly interested in old houses then this is a book worth having.

Yet another great little book with so much content. A good series in every case compact but full of detail.

A useful tool and essential reading for those who are thinking of attempting restoration of period properties, particularly listed buildings.

There is a lot of information in this book that will certainly help me tremendous to be more effective in teaching this course in the future.
