Great Ghee
This ghee is pretty straightforward—exactly what you’d expect from a good jar of ghee. Among it's other culinary uses, it’s fantastic on popcorn. I love that movie theater buttery, slightly nutty flavor that really elevates it. At room temperature, the ghee is nice and scoopable, not rock-solid like some other oils, which makes it easy to use.The quantity in the jar is good! the jar itself might be a tad tall, but I've had no issues finding storage for it in my cramped kitchen. I keep it close and use it frequently enough that I'm just about out...

Excellent on sourdough and focaccia!
I had never tried ghee before, I tried making it once but it was a disaster so I gave up. I didn't want to spend money buying it because it tends to have a hefty price tag so I consider myself blessed to have the opportunity to try this product. When I first opened it, I licked the seal. It's very creamy and smooth and had absolutely no flavor but does have an odd aftertaste. It almost reminds me of some type of nut. On its own, I can't say I'm a fan.Once I tried it on my sourdough and focaccia, I absolutely loved it. My bread has all the salt needed for flavor but the ghee adds another layer to my bread. I haven't tried cooking with it as I'm trying to make it last as long as possible. In this household, we will be eating it as a spread on our breads.Honestly, I don't think I would pay that hefty price, even though it's a large jar, maybe if I had more disposable income I would definitely splurge.I think this product should be experienced by everyone at one point or another. It's different and really boosts the flavor of sourdough and focaccia.

Waste of money
Came rancid. Non-returnable. Money down the drain.

Conscious Food A2 Desi Cow Ghee - 33 oz Jar Premium Clarified Butter
This review is for the Conscious Food A2 Desi Cow Ghee. The product is a warm golden color, and it is packaged in a 33 oz (1 liter) jar, which does not currently require refrigeration. Even though it's shelf stable, it's a lot of ghee for one person, so I will probably be storing it in the fridge after opening, just so it stays fresh longer. Ghee is made by melting and straining butter to remove all the milk solids. After being clarified, it becomes translucent and very soft, almost semi-liquid at room temperature, making it easy to scoop, measure and cook with. Some people prefer ghee over butter because it contains pure butterfat, without any of the water, proteins, or lactose that are normally present in whole milk and cream. It is a common ingredient in Indian recipes, and can also be used in traditional medicine, and for Hindu religious rituals. The Conscious Food brand claims they start with butter that is 100% pure and premium, all-natural, non-GMO and sourced from grass-fed Indian cows. I sampled a little after it arrived, and this ghee does indeed taste delicious, but the price seems really high compared to how much raw butter costs, and the amount competitors are charging for similar products. I'm not a ghee snob, so it wouldn't be fair for me to weigh in on whether or not this particular product is "worth" the msrp, but if you ARE a ghee connoisseur, and you're willing and able to spend $50+ for a larger jar, and premium, imported ingredients, then I think you'll be happy with the A2 Desi Cow Ghee. Give it a try!

Convenient Clarified Butter
This is a huge jar of special A2 cow ghee that is made using a special process for clarifying the butter. Back in the last century, I used to make my own ghee for cooking Greek. Today my spouse does a paleo diet and uses ghee for things like frying his eggs. There are many uses and finding a quality ghee is a fine thing and such a time and resource saver from making your own. This ghee smells excellent and is very pure. I keep ghee in a cool, dark cabinet and it stays there well for months. You could always divide this jar into another and refrigerate half for later. If it fits into your budget you should try it. We mostly use olive oil here, but if you like butter you should try this alternative. It’s worth looking up how it’s made and what benefits may be derived from it. From India.

Good quality ghee
The ghee has the expected scent and flavor. It melts easily, but typical of what it is, handles higher temperatures than regular butter. Great for cooking and flavoring.

Comes in a glass jar…
In the past year I started making butter chicken at home using some of the shelf simmer sauces. I notice that when I use olive oil to brown the chicken thighs that it can leave fat puddles on top of the dish so I thought I would try ghee to see if it would make any difference, as well as using a more traditional Indian fat versus olive oil. I put a couple tablespoons of this Conscious Food ghee in my sauté pan once it got to an appropriate temperature. The end result was pretty similar to using olive oil, but now that I have it I’ll give it a try in some other recipes.I note in the title that it comes in a glass jar because the product is produced in India and the added weight impacts its carbon footprint. That also opens the debate on glass versus plastic for packaging and their individual impacts on the environment…
