Would this work to lift plywood sheets?

I wouldn’t recommend it for wood. The wood tends to give and the teeth would bite into it which would damage the wood. Also, never try to pick up more than one sheet of anything with a vertical plate clamp, they are designed for one sheet at a time. You might look at the horizontal plate clamps. You could lift more than one sheet at a time but it may still bite into the wood.
