I picked up this item becy I couldn't believe the price and I was especially blown away when I actually got the item. it's very durable, heavy. I picked it up just because me and my children are planning on going to some Renaissance festivals and do a little bit of cosplay and the price was right and now I've seen the quality of the product I'm blown away. it's better than described I would say because it's exactly like described but I just for whatever reason I didn't know that it was going to be this heavy this durable this good and I'm going to be probably end up getting some more because my children want to keep wearing mine but I'm very satisfied the product very satisfied with the price and value and I Hartley recommend it to anybody who's looking to get something like this

The chain mail coif was exactly like the picture. Though, I should have looked closer, I was hoping it would have been a little longer to hang down a but more, and I was hoping the face opening was a little bigger. The coif is not blue at all like the picture, but I already knew that after ready other reviews on the item. It was very shiny silver though, I used a bit of white vinegar to dull mine a lot because the rest of my set is old and does not have that shine, bit I know this also and so I will still give five stars. It is big enough to wear and use as an adult, but I wish it was a little larger so that I could pull it back almost like a hood, but for the price, I got exactly what I paid for and I am happy with it. I may modify it later to be exactly what I want, or just find a larger one to buy... Also, on a side note, I did take some teethless needle nose pliers and go through to fix many links which were not entirely closed, this only took a while and can be done with ease so that the links do mot come out in the future or snag. Just preventative maintenance that I would recommend since your getting exactly what you pay for. Its quality is great for the price, just expect to spend a little bit of time closing any links that may not be all the way closed... (I am a little picky with my armor) again great size and quality for the price, no missing links anywhere that I have noticed either. Good luck! I recommend this product, especially to people looking for cheap chain mail armor.

Quality and construction is good. Heavy, but comfortable to wear other than that. Two things need to be mentioned. One is that the hood comes coated in some mild, but offensive-smelling gel that has to be washed off before you put it on your head (I suggest wearing a do-rag; keeps the hair from protruding from the hood). The second is that wearing the hood for an extended period of time will cause a black substance to get on your clothes and skin. It washes out of both easily, but is unsightly and a bit concerning if you are not expecting it.

Pros: Fairly cheap, study.Cons: doesn't work well with glasses, but that is to be expected. It is Galvanized Steel so it will not corrode, but unlike Aluminium (which also won't corrode) the steel is pretty heavy. Also the face hole seemed a bit small, maybe I just have a big head 6'2 male. But with my trusty pliers i removed 4 links at the chin area and it fits better. If i needed to i could add them back on, but I like it better this way.All in all, I am glad i purchased it. The links in no way dig into the skin or cut you. And it is not too uncomfortable on your head.

I was looking for something unusual for my 20-year-old son's birthday. I first came across this item on a different site, but their check-out system wasn't working well and after re-entering information twice and still having trouble, I gave up and decided to check Amazon. Amazon's checkout is so much easier than just about anywhere else. I think the item was even less expensive on Amazon. My son was taken with the coif immediately and took it back with him to college. I'm sure any TSA agents ruffling through his suitcase were mystified. His eyes lit up when he opened it and I know he's been thinking of scads of ways to use it. Looks like decent quality. It's heavy, but not too heavy.It should last a while. Very pleased.

I purchased this when it was being sold through BUDK Catalog, and while the product is great for the price, I definitely won't be ordering from this company again. They enclosed a catalog that featured lighters emblazoned with swastikas and SS logos, and other assorted Nazi and Confederate flag merchandise. I get that they are a reproduction weapons store, and I get that there is a market for repro German WWII paraphernalia, but when you're selling Zippos with swastikas and Confederate flag bed sheets, then you're no longer marketing to history buffs. And I'm not part of the target audience that you are catering to. I'd prefer not to support a company that deals in this sort of thing.About the coif itself, it is heavy duty and put together better than expected given the $25 price tag. I had to repair one slightly bent link, but that was no big deal at all. It is exactly as pictured apart from the blue color. The actual coif is silver/grey just as you'd expect, and doesn't have the odd blue tint shown in the photo.

I failed to write a review on time for this product, but it really is a great piece of gear. Wears comfortably. My personal preference is to have some sort of cloth or fabric to put on top of your head/hair as it occasionally pulls a hair strand or two but it is not bad. Originally ordered the silver color but the seller had to opt for the black coated instead due to inventory issues. But honestly, I think I like the black coated instead! It takes a few shots of WD-40 every once in a while to keep it from rusting or stiffening but still a great work of craftsmanship.

I bought this for my sister to give to her friend for his birthday. I put this thing on, and it was heavy. I mean it felt so great on my head and so very, very solid. I honestly wanted to grab a sword and start running down my street screaming.This thing is fantastic. The only thing I recommend is if you put it on, make sure you have something covering your hair because it WILL get caught in it. I have curly hair, and let's just say it hurt taking it off.
