Great to reduce the heat on a high burner
I purchased these to use on my Verona stove because all the burners run way to hot and even on the lowest settings they are too hot. These fit fine on my cast iron grates and I like the fact that they come with the little removeable handles because I am able to pick up and move at hot plate off the burner or add a cool plate to the burner without getting close to the hot metal. The only thing I don't care for is they smell pretty bad when you first start to use them and they continue to soot or have a black flaky residue come of the bottom and fall on the stove top when you move it around. And make sure to wash these with something you don't want to reuse at the black soot will stain your rag/sponge etc. Overall they serve their purpose and were cheaper than the brand that went with my stove. I may purchase two more in the future.

Kept my smallest pot from boiling on a gas stove that often puts out too much heat
They are a heavy cast-iron with the top having an enamel coating there's a ring on the bottom that provide some isolation from other metal surfaces below. I used the small one on outdoor gas stove in combination with a another larger one by different manufacturer, the larger one by it self, the heat is too high for small pots, this unit was able to keep the temperature down so that my smallest pot on the burners lowest setting did not come to a boil I have not used the larger one yet. I like it's construction it should provide good isolation. An update 2 or 3 days later I used both plates at a higher heat they work excellent for diffusing heat still no unwanted boiling or burning. I did notice at the higher heat they seemed to emit a hot plastic smell. Before I use them next I'm going to let them cook for a little while see if the oder returns and I can burn off that odor.

Love these, especially the big one! Heavier than most so they keep things at a simmer better!
My gas range does not have a burner low enough to "just simmer" anything, so I need a diffuser to bring the heat down a notch when making things that require simmering - sauces, soups etc. when a bain marie is just too much work - or not big enough. I have purchased several over the years, and had earlier obtained the smaller of these, which is VERY useful, so when I started to buy a second of the smaller ones, the two together was an obvious choice. These are solid, medium heavy, cast iron with an enamel finish, so they can go in the dishwasher making cleaning easier. I like these better than my others because they are heavier than many I have found, which means they provide a more even heat, the better for simmering. I use two together when I really need to really keep the heat down, and that has worked well. I especially love the larger one because it fits my large stew pot, so I can simmer large batches of sauce, stew, soup with far less attention than previously required, yea! I have also used them as a warmer in the bottom of bread baskets - heat it, wrap it in a towel, put in the bottom of the basket, then put the bread on top to keep bread warm longer at the table. I am ordering another pair of these I like them so well, and who doesn't want both soup AND hot chocolate going in the winter?

Use with caution on glass cooktops!
I just used this diffuser for the first time. It worked well and did what it was supposed to do. It's definitely cast iron and very heavy. I have a glass cooktop, so I was very careful when placing it and while cooking. It didn't move around that I could tell. Afterwards I notices several small gouges in the glass. My cooktop is less than a year old, so I don't think I will be using this again. I would not recommend for a glass cooktop but I think it would work well for gas or electric. I also want to point out that the paid on the top did bubble. If it chips off, I don't think it would have a negative effect, but if you wanted to, you could probably use a high heat spray paint to repaint it periodically.

Great Product !
Great product ! Years ago I had a metal one but this is so much better. Not that heavy, distributes the heat from a gas stove very well. To me the handle is a little hard to attach but no big deal to me I just leave them on the burners all the time. Very happy with these defusiers !

Works well.
Ordered the diffusers for my commercial stove which burns very hot.. No such thing as simmer in my house! Diffusers worked well with short term cooking, but had to use an extra 2" elevated diffuser to simmer long term such as a bolognese sause, etc. Overall good product, I would recommend.

Great ๐ product
The diffusers may heat up so you need to control your burner so as to control the diffusers and they don't heat up to much.
