Going Too Far

Great fun, amusing, with all the insight into her characters that I have come to expect from Catherine Alliott.The main character is happily in love with her husband, but lazy, bored and frustrated with the way her plans for their life have not materialised. An exciting flirtation becomes dangerous and threatens all.

Having read four or five of her others in a couple of weeks you could say I like her... Her books are funny, accessible and very 'more-ish'. The central character in 'Going too Far' however is not at all likeable and all her others have been skatty but sweet. Polly is a bit of a sociopath but even so still enjoyed this and having a bitch as the protagonist was actually quite fun.

Once again, one of my favourite authors has entertained me for 2 days with a wonderfully crafted book. This one was pure escapism, not least because the main character Polly, is completely barking mad, but because Ms Alliott has a real knack of witty writing and concocting fabulous story lines. This was humorous and serious at the same time, and with Polly's scatty personality, I found myself loving her character even more than I did in The Old Girl Network. I have most of Alliott's books on my Kindle and so far I have enjoyed them all. Still got about 4 to read.

I read this a long time ago as a paperback, but after having a book clear-out, missed it! So downloaded it to kindle and re-read and it was as fresh as the day it was published. Not many novels can stand the test of time, but this one does with aplomb!

I have dark circoes under my eyes through reading Catherine Alliotts books.. cant put them down..very realistig & funny..every book is a treat.. getting worried i have read all of her books except two that I intend to buy very soon.

Wonderful read, thoroughly enjoyed it. Another brilliantly witty and fun book by Catherine Alliott.
