Art of Problem Solving: Beast Academy 2A Math Practice Book Paperback Bunko – January 1, 2017

We have been learning great math skills without my child realizing that we are doing "school work." He picks the book up and reads it for fun, as if he were reading a story or comic book. The illustrations in the guide are colorful and captivating for imaginative minds. My child laughed at the thought that Ms. Q looked like a dragon/bird/slug. The exercises provide challenges of increasing difficulty, but in an entertaining way that isn't intimidating. We also appreciate the mental math hints that are presented in a way that is, in my opinion, clearer and more logical than a book like Singapore Math.I was hesitant to buy these at first because I wasn't sure if the "monster" theme would frighten my sensitive child. I am also careful about guarding purity and avoiding unnecessary exposure to themes that can be avoided, especially at a very young age. I haven't encountered any issues with these books yet. There are some pirate themes, but nothing that frightened my child. The students in the guide are polite to each other, and there is humor inserted in the lessons. I'm really happy we gave this a try.See the contents page for topics covered. There are certain math topics that may need supplementation from another source because they are not included such as practice telling time, advanced practice with shapes, patterns or analogies, measurements, estimations, and currency. I have not tried the online resources and I have not tried any other levels yet and I am not a math teacher, so I cannot comment extensively on this.Overall, we love this book! We hope to continue to supplement with Beast Academy in the future!

This program is excellent in every way. Really. If your child is a math lover or if your child is bored by other programs, then Beast Academy May be your answer. The creators make math fun to learn and challenging to think about. It’s not “hear the lesson, practice the problem worksheets’ at all. The kids learn along with the beasts and their teachers and then they practice from every kind of angle and they see several ways to solve the problems. I think of it as providing an atmosphere for letting my kids get flexible with math and wallow around in numbers. They love it!!

We’re just starting out with Beast Academy, but a week into the curriculum I’m loving the clear explanations of concepts and my 7 year old son is loving the comic style format and storyline.The books arrived promptly and in perfect condition from the seller, along with some really helpful tips and ideas for using Beast Academy, which I genuinely appreciated, so five stars all around!

I got this to work through with my kindergartner who absolutely loves math. We are loving it! The way it gets the learner to think about numbers and math is fun and unique. For example, the first lesson on number places (ones, tens, hundreds) uses symbols pirates used to indicate how much treasure they had. Beyond that engaging aspect, the story also helps demonstrate the importance of order and organization. And for the record, this mathy kindergartner is a girl (a rather girly girl who loves her dollhouse and Barbies), and she adores Beast Academy (ie it's accessible to and enjoyable for a wide array of personalities).

Fast shipping and excellent product. I use this as part of my daughter’s homeschool curriculum. We are enrolled in the Beast Academy online curriculum. My daughter loves doing math now. A multi-media approach makes teaching a lot easier on parents.

The book is awesome and interesting. Its the only math book my daughter loves. Each question is thought provoking and fun to do. Would recommend to all math loving kids.

Kids like the monsters. Like the movie

This book explains the math concepts in a way that children will accept and like. My kid asks me to read it to her every day. And she really learns a lot from it.
