University Physics: Volume 1

Free book; same content as that other book which costs $200+
I use this book for engineering physics class I teach (3-semester sequence; this book matches to the first semester). While some criticisms of this book are valid (yes, the layout work isn't the best), the *content* of the book is solid (no, there aren't "many mistakes", at least no more than what is usually there in textbooks, and check out the errata list---you can find it on OpenStax website; who else maintains an open errata list like that?). And would you really pay $200 (or $100 used), just so that you can have page/paragraph breaks in the "correct" places?Look through the book and judge for yourself---and unlike other books which cost $200+ you can look at the *whole* book to judge for yourself if this is worth your time.

Not that great :(
I bought this because I prefer hard copy to web versions/ PDFs. I expected a printed copy to come in full color. Certain examples in the text refer to colored diagrams, but that is impossible as the whole text is in grayscale.About the text, it's a lot of information, and not a lot of explaination. Solutions are lackluster. No full explanations, and expects the reader to just understand how they got to the answer. Not even referring to formulas/pages that explain formula.I'm all for supporting open standards, but there is still a LOT of room for improvement.

Very poor quality - lots of mistakes
Purchased for a University Physics 2 class. This textbook is a "work in progress" and not ready for use in an undergrad class. I'm disappointed the college even considered it. The PDFs are free on line but you get what you pay for. It is the product of a community of contributors but there are lots of mistakes in the text and in the answer key to the odd problems. Don't waste your time buying the hard copy. It's not worth keeping.

Long and dull chapters with limited info
Long and dull chapters with limited info. There is just too much crammed into the small space. The book needs to be about half the length with a 4th of the content. They try to fit this all in one semester.

This Text Book is a Joke
The text book has very little narrative and explanations, only formulas and equations. It looks like it came from a vanity press. This rating could not go low enough! You are better off taking physics topics and searching for video instruction on Youtube.
