Important discussion of the church's primary mission
Dave Doran's discussion of the mission of the church in For the Sake of His Name is one of the best available; I use it and recommend it often. That, combined with the Doxological foundation for a philosophy of missions is what makes this book the first I consult when thinking through mission related issues. Highly recommended.

No better book on the topic!
You will not find a more precise book of biblical missions. In our day “missions” is called a whole lot of things it is not. This book will paint a clear picture regarding what God calls his people to be about as the fulfillment the great commission (missions).

If God could speak about missions...
If God could speak about our missions' strategy, what would He say? The fact is that God has spoken to us in His Word, telling us everything that He wanted to tell us regarding missions. And our job is to mine the truth of the Scripture, and then use that truth to evaluate and shape our methodology for taking the gospel to the nations. David Doran uses the Scripture to help readers see what God desires regarding missions. Whether you are a goer or a sender, a pastor or a member of the congregation, you ought to read this book. It will challenge and encourage you to think biblically about missions, and it will motivate you to put God’s strategy into action.
