Catching Foxes: A Gospel-Guided Journey to Marriage

Such a wonderful book to go through for marriage counseling. This author covers all the important topics and we felt prepared for marriage.

We just finished counseling a young couple before their big day. What a great book! This is the best marriage counseling book we’ve ever used for premarital counsel. It digs into what marriage is, why we have marriage, who we are and what we bring to our marriage, and how we can catch the foxes before they catch us. There were several times my husband I, married 30 years, said I wish someone would have told us this before we got married, it would have made things a lot easier. The format is easy to follow. The questions are thought provoking. This book is both practical and theologically sound. We have already recommended it to several friends and we plan to lead our small group at church through it. Highly recommend!

My wife and I bought a handful of books to work through together before we got married, we found another workbook but it became quickly obvious that it was a little too set on cultural/ worldly ideas of marriage. We also started reading The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller but we found that a little too heady and abstract and hard to apply in some ways. Catching Foxes, however, was a great combination of these two things with great reading material and questions to answer in each chapter that pointed us as individuals and as a couple towards Christ. We went through this book with our pre-marital counseling couple from the church and it was extremely helpful to walk through certain topics with an older and wiser couple which the book also suggests doing and gives resources for.

I would recommend this book to all who are involved in marriage counseling whether counselor or counselee. It approaches all aspects of marriage from a Biblical perspective with an emphasis on honoring Christ in marriage as part of living out the Christian life. Make no mistake about it, this is thoroughly Biblical Christian counseling presented in a remarkably wholesome, intelligent and practical way. It is a blessing to read.

We read this with a small group at church of young married couples and it was great. Definitely designed to be read by engaged couples, but it was a great read with some great reminders for our group of couples that have been married 1-5 years.

Highly recommend for anyone getting married very thorough and asks good questions

The author does a great job of exploring every aspect of the marriage relationship from a biblical perspective. There is hope and encouragement in understanding marriage from God’s perspective. Henderson helps us understand how to practically apply God’s truth to the day to day, moment by moment life experienced by a husband and wife.

I've already recommended this book to about four different couples. I don't know if they've started reading it or not. But I've been doing a study of it with my wife and another couple. It's not just for people who are already married!
