Light hearted fun!
If the I Love Lucy Show was a book, it would be this one! A series of short stories follow Dave and Morley and their family during their Christmas celebrations. Set in Canada, each story brings a smile to your face. Dave (the Lucy in this family) gets into crazy situation after crazy situation. I think my two favorite stories were the ones about the school play and the mailbox. What a great light hearted read for the holidays!

A must have Christmas story collection!
A wonderful collection of Christmas stories from the much loved and deeply missed Stuart McLean. Having been a fan of the Vinyl Cafe for MANY years, I'd heard all the stories - except for the one about the Christmas cards - which only aired in Dec 2017. Reading the stories, I could almost hear Stuart's voice reading the story on the radio. I smiled, laughed and shed quite a few tears along the way. The only thing that could have made this book better would have been to include ALL of the Christmas stories in one collection! Thank you Stuart for so many years of wonderful storytelling!

Entertaining Christmas stories of a family’s life
It is a Christmas tradition to read a (usually odd) holiday book. I visited Toronto this year and for some reason, this book caught my eye this year. I thoroughly enjoyed the short stories. They weren’t grand tales, but captured the feeling that the spirit of Christmas transcends the failures and disappointments of our lives.

Some of the stories are repeated from others of the auhtor's books.
Light, fun reading and I didn't mind reading the stories again. The reader feels as if Dave's family could be living next door.

Such a fun read of the hilarity and love Christmas embodies. An excellent break for the Christmas season.

A wonderful book of short stories
I have been reading these stories to my kids at night and they love them, as do I. Full of Stuart’s classic Christmas stories, including Dave Cooks the Turkey. Has a lovely little string bookmark and a very nice binding as well.

Thought it was a CD
I thought it was the CD when I punched it. Very disappointed it was the book. It's his voice that makes the story so special. It was a Christmas present for my sister in the UK

Christmas for me is Stuart McLean and these wonderful stories are like listening to Stuart read his stories on the radio. I highly recommend this book if you are a Stuart McLean fan and even if you are not. They are heartwarming. The only thing better is listening to his Christmas stories CD.

Stuart McLean, Unique Storyteller
There will never be another Stuart McLean. Thanks for this Christmas collection as Stuart and the Vinyl Café crew always made Christmas a special time of year for all of us on either side of the International Border. I am thankful my wife and I were able to attend that final show in Thunder Bay.

STUART MCLEAN'S Gift to us all.
Stories familiar and new. Stuart's voice in the reader's ears and the gentle chuckles that emanate from the foibles of family, neighbours and friends. Who among us will decorate for Christmas or struggle with the most awkward of poultry without thinking of Dave, Butch and the aroma of gravy.Merry Christmas, Stuart, and thank you for your many gifts..
