She Lives For Ever
Conan the Barbarian (CTB) is essentially a story about a man’s quest for justice - in the form of revenge - a brutal but victorious quest that comes at a high price (often the case with justice): Conan pays physically - he endures years of slavery, pit-fighting and precarious wandering, before getting beaten-up and crucified. And Conan pays emotionally (in a Cimmerian, don’t-expect-tears-any-time-soon sort of a way) - he finds and loses the love of his life. And that love, of course, is the formidable and captivating Valeria, as portrayed by Sandahl Bergman, whose rendition of the character, in a film renowned for excellent casting, is a significant contribution to the success of CTB, and saw her winning the 1983 Golden Globes and Saturn Awards categories of Best New Actress and Best Actress. Athleticism combines with beauty and striking delivery to create a supporting role worthy of, and at times equaling, the superb Conan given to us by Mr. Schwarzenegger. It cannot be denied: Valeria/Sandahl has some great scenes and lines. Revisit, if you will, the "All my life I’ve been alone" monologue after the main love scene, or the fight with the spirits and subsequent "All the gods, they cannot sever us" speech during Conan’s post-crucifixion resuscitation. – Solid acting (+ writing) offering impressive declarations of love that Valeria follows-up on with her stunning "Do you want to live forever" appearance in the gripping Conan v Rexor show-down at the end of the Battle of the Mounds. - The appearance that provides the inspiration for the Super 7 figurine I will eventually get around to reviewing.Yes, alongside many (if not all) of the other casting choices, Ms. Bergman firmly belongs in the category of "no better person on the planet for the job". And it speaks to the quality of the writing and directing that CTB’s Valeria isn’t simply scantily-clad, amply-bosomed, eye-candy waving around a glorified letter opener. Mr. Milius & Mr. Stone have done their homework, they know their Robert E. Howard and recognize that casting an early-eighties Sex Goddess – e.g. Morgan Fairchild - would be ridiculous, and that a true warrior is what is required. And they deliver: from the second Valeria/Ms. Bergman appears, we have a battle-ready, sword-wielding Amazon challenging and momentarily unnerving Conan and Subotai, who - remember, need to go up the outside and down the inside of a 100-foot stairless stone tower - quickly receive the verbal equivalent of a kick in the backside: “Call yourselves thieves? – You don‘t even have a rope!”Howard, you see, well understood the need for Conan’s female companions (as opposed to his female amusements) to be proper fighters. And it was Howard of course who gave us the original Valeria – albeit a somewhat more, um, lady-like version, as presented in "Red Nails" (which I do recommend). And it would be wrong of me to be silent here in relation to Conan’s other great (arguably greater) companion from the stories, the beautiful but deadly Belit, as presented in “Queen of the Black Coast", whose "Song" extract at the start of chapter 4 may well have been the inspiration for Valeria’s "All the gods" speech in the film.Staying with the film: Valeria and Conan are surprised by love. In a brutal world where survival is the name of the game for more or less everyone (royalty included), neither has the luxury of being in a position to pursue romance. Neither really expects to find love. But when it finds them, it is Valeria who reminds Conan of the specialness: "You and I, we have warmth. That’s so hard to find in this world". We come to see that she is worthy of the man, and, indeed, that he is worthy of the woman, and that it’s a respect Conan is conscious of. During Valeria’s cremation, he discards his Wheel of Pain pendant, replacing it with Valeria’s jewel pendant – a gesture of devotion but also a superior encouragement to seek revenge for her death plus the slaughter of his family and people. It’s a devotion that continues undiminished in CTB’s worthy sequel, Conan the Destroyer. There, at the start, we see a praying Conan focused on Valeria, and then doing a deal with Queen Taramis for Valeria’s return from the dead - "She sits by the side of my god". Later-on we have a somewhat overly relaxed - OK: 100% drunk - but still completely sincere Conan explaining to a very attentive Princess Jehnna that, when he has his Kingdom, Valeria will be his Queen, and that Valeria is just like the nearby Zula: “she doesn’t look like her, but she has the same… the same… spirit!… The same strength!” And that Valeria is “a great warrior; a great woman”.And she is a great movie character - the best on-screen female Barbarian to date, and rightly worthy of celebration 40+ years after CTB’s release. But what of the Super 7 figurine? Well, let me simply put it this way: Bravo, Super 7 – another beautifully executed must-buy!Just want to finish with a few "take ‘em or leave ‘em" notes: handsome packaging; pretty good likeness to Ms. Bergman and with a suitably enigmatic facial expression; reasonable articulation (but perhaps don’t try the pose in the famous poster); good match with on-screen design (esp. the armor); good scale relative to Conan & Subotai – the three look fantastic together (image to come); and, gotta ask: is this the first time we’ve had a non-custom Valeria figurine on the market? And finally, if I absolutely had to do some nit-picking: the hair maybe needs to be a shade blonder – a bit more lustrous (after all, she comes from a shining afterlife…). But special care would be needed: we wouldn’t want to end-up with folks thinking it’s "Baleria" – a Barbie doll take on Valeria. Conan, for one, would not be amused.

Best Conan Figure Ever!
This Conan figure is so awesome I bought two. Comes with two great head sculpts, one is Arnold's crazy Viking helmet face and one is the best Conan neutral face Super7 has made to date. Which made me think can I get this figure as close to the look from the end of the movie I can. I took a little heat to the side of his vest and it peeled apart just fine. It is just held with a tiny bit of glue and you can see how it fits together from the photo. I am very pleased with this one. I added his father's sword for my display, it is not included unfortunately. RIP James Earl Jones.

Good good
What choice do we have? You have to buy it.Some qc issues here and there: scratch marks around the shoulder and elbow, but overall good paint app.Articulation wise, well, it is Super7: they chose to have good looking joints so you have to sacrifice the ability to make dynamic poses. The issue I have is with the price and the flagrant drop in quality. Some examples: the Atlantean sword's blade is transparent...the box does not come with the previous offered sleeveBut man, if you love the movie, even though $55 is a little bit too much, it is a good looking figure and you will be satisfied.

Get it while you can
Took a little longer than expected to ship. But that tends to happen with these types of figures. Looks great!

Very high quality
The detail on this collectable is impressive. It is solid and well made, and while it is not the cheapest figure I have, the price can be justified due to the quality. It is able to stand on its own and looks great. I have it on my desk at work and it has started several fun conversations. If you are interested in Conan figures, this is an essential piece.

Super7 Is The Best
Super7 just makes the best stuff hands down. The price point isnt great but what they deliver in terms of quality sculpts and packaging is top shelf. Another gem for the collection, just love it. Will likely pick up the rest of this set of Conan figures cuz they all look super slick.

Little Arnold
These reaction figures are getting better each year. I know they wanted to make them look simple like yesterday's figures but these are beginning to have their likeness and details. Awesome.
