A very interesting and informative text dealing with the primates . Nicely illustrated . Yet the book is quite compact for the extensive content . Very pleasing to read .

This book gives an overview of the taxanomic primate family tree, it gives a brief description of each species and where it fits in the evolutionary structure. A wonderful colourful book.

Interesting enough, but far from the best wildlife book I've read.

I have studied anthropology for many years but only recently after reading some Jane Goodall has the field of primatology really sparked my interest. I wanted an illustrated and comprehensive rough guide to all sorts of primates around the world and this book was perfect for that. It is broad in it's scope, and for the most part misses a lot of nuance and detail to which other reviewers have commented, but this did not matter to me. Having a more casual book which is less intense, that I can glance through or read more in depth at will, is very useful to me. This is not everything there is to know on primates but it is a beautiful format to present a large amount of information which anyone could read or pick up.While I understand the critcisms of more academic types in other reviews I am going to give this 5 stars as I had no delusions about what I was getting. This was exactly what I was after. Now I have a brilliant reference for me to start discovering more and finding books which will go into more detail of the factors I wish to know more about. The simplicity of it; to the point a teenager or complete layman would have no problem picking up, is in part a bonus to me. When you want to make a good foundation to your knowledge you should always start with the basics in great clarity. That's exactly what this book provides.
