Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree Down Sleeping Bag - Long - Ultralight Backpacking Camping Sleeping Bag with Stuff Sack

We finally used our sleeping bags during our Memorial Day hiking trip. We researched & researched & researched some more...all the pros & cons of fill vs. synthetic. Then, we balanced that against weight & price. The Kelty Cosmic was recommended on Outdoor Gear Lab blogs and we found it at a GREAT price on Amazon.The weather ended up shifting on us during the trip and nights were easily 30degrees! This bag was worth EVERY penny and more. The extra fill at the foot, paired with some wool socks, kept the toes toasty. We certainly used the full spectrum of the mummy bag, covering our heads and cinching the cord. The draft protector was a life saver & some of our other campers did not have this (they had other brands) & they kept shifting to try and prevent the drafts from getting into their bags.On one night, my zipper caught and I could not get it undone. But, my fellow camper easily got it working again,. I highly recommend you use caution when zipping and unzipping, even with the catch guard. From the outside, it operates easily. Even with a flip zipper you should be careful. Things don't work the same at 2am without light (or minimal light) when taking a bathroom break - ha!I will tell you - when you get out of the bag in the middle of the night you certainly realize how cold it is vs. when you are snug in the bag.The bag fit perfectly - I am 5ft 4in and curvy at 160lbs.Highly Highly Recommend this bag.

I love this sleeping bag. I love how fluffy and cozy it is, while still being relatively lightweight. It has kept me comfortable in 30-degree conditions and still gives a little room to wiggle around. It compresses easily into a 10L compression bag. There are certainly lighter and higher down count bags out there, but for the price, I am very happy with the cosmic.

I've been borrowing my friends' sleeping bags for the occasional pack-in camping trips for years, so I finally decided to buy my own. Since I'm not a crazy intense backpacker, and only go camping a few times in spring and a few times in fall (never during the depth of winter), I wanted to keep my purchase under $200.I took this on a pack-in trip over the weekend. While not ultra-tiny, it fits well in the bottom of my pack without adding too much weight on. It got down to the upper 30s at night, and I stayed nice and warm in the bag while also wearing leggings, wool socks, and a hoodie.Bottom line: If you are a more dedicated backpacker/camper than I, you would *probably* want something lighter and more compact. But for the average two-season camper that wants to go out in the woods with their friends for the weekend and have a good time every so often, this is a great bag. Happy with my purchase!

I just received this sleeping bag. I will update when I go backpacking next week- but my biggest concern was that it says it fit up to 5'8"... I ordered it anyways and to my delight I fit perfect. I am 5'9" and 160lbs. It's more snug than other bags I've had, but I sleep so cold that I think it will be great. I don't feel trapped.. more like a hug. I do have room all around me, just less than normal. I'm excited to take it to the Tetons next week!
