Lift your arms over your head, and by this posture, invoke the state of prayer. By reaching up, you remind yourself of your higher aspirations. This way of prayer is as old as human thought. The womb is the source of life. In its spacious confines, the boundary between self and other is broken down, as eacjh new life begins there. Its sacred place in the weave of our universe makes it a portal for the return to the source. To follow the spiral to the center is a long journey, but it ends very close to where it began. at its beginning, one has already almost arrived. Just as plants and vegetables grow from the ground, so also does human life originate in the womb. And so to focus on the womb, with arms held overhead, is to invoke a meeting of earth and sky within one's self, even if only for an instant. When men do this same practice, they invoke an energy that lives within the slar plexus: the center of their power. A place in the body, the mystics tell, that leads to higher states of awareness.
