Easy setup and great results
We used this in our truck bed on the 4th and it worked perfectly. I didn’t have high hopes for this because it is virtually silent and I didn’t know how it would work. But it does! We didn’t get one mosquito bite. We usually come home with a few bites here and there even if we use spray. But this seems to have created an invisible shield around us. It was great to have and will be great to have in the future.

Didnt work
I had high hopes with this but was sorely disappointed. Even when I sat right next to it, I got so many mosquito bites. Not effective at all.

Meh. Only moderately effective. Does very little if you're a mosquito magnet like me.
I'm a mosquito magnet, and I hate using DEET. So I've tested just about every product on the market.I've read this has to do with blood type - they love Type O people. But I realize not everyone is a mosquito magnet like me, so I'm including here a comprehensive review of several products and methods:Firstly, I was disappointed that this unit is just a tiny fan. It does not heat up the pad! Most of the other brands - Thermacell, Flextail, Q5, Moskiller, etc - use heat to heat up their pads, which is more effective and creates a larger barrier. Also, this only has essential oils - it does not use the more effective Mepaflurin. And it doesn't use the best oils, either - no citronella, no lemon eucalyptus, no geraniol. Just corn mint and rosemary.Mepaflurin is what most brands use on their pads to deter mosquitoes. None of these repellants are 100%, not even close. But the Mepaflurin is more effective than just using essential oils (using both is ideal - and in fact, you can add drops yourself to the pads for additional protection). So I have a fundamental question about the method used by this device: If this only uses essential oils and a fan, why not just fog the area with essential oils? Or spray them on your body? Why use this device? It's easy and cheap to mix up essential oils in a 32 ounce spray bottle and just mist the area periodically. I tend to mix about 1-2% essential oils with 10% coconut oil, 10% witch hazel, and roughly 75-80% water. So this SH1200 is weaker because it only uses a fan, no heat. And it doesn't use the more effective ingredients.Further, it uses two AA batteries (not included), whereas I prefer the other units because they're rechargeable.I also don't like that this unit uses proprietary pads (although, the standard sized pads will work in this unit, but you have to trim them down a bit if you want to use two pads at once). Finally, and most importantly, in terms of efficacy - mosquitoes avoid these scents, but the key word is avoid (not deter). If they smell someone like me (a Type 0 blood type) they'll just buzz right by the smell and come feast on me anyway. For me, it almost does nothing at all - maybe a 10% reduction in mosquitoes if I'm being generous. For my wife, mosquitoes don't tend to bother her very much, so this is fairly effective for her - maybe resulting in a 50% reduction in mosquitoes that will come close to the unit. They claim this provides a 20 foot barrier, and that's quite a stretch in my experience. Of course it also depends on what kind of mosquitoes you're dealing with (in my area, it's brown mosquitoes and tiger mosquitoes). But in my experience, it's more like a 5 foot barrier. Finally, if you're looking for natural (or at least DEET-free) mosquito blocking methods, I tend to use 2 or 3 at once to achieve 100% protection. I like the portable devices with pads (but prefer the kind that heat up). I also use: mosquito coils, tiki torches with citronella, candles with citronella, essential oil fogger (usually homemade), essential oil spray (also usually homemade), and coleman skinsmart bug spray is my favorite DEET-free bug spray.

Solid device!
Safer Home outdoor mosquitoe repellent does a good enough job on my patio for me to say it works. It works off batteries and included an extra pack of the essential oils. During our cookout, I thought it did a great job and runs somewhat silently. Solid value!

Mosquito repellent device is nice!
I really like this mosquito repellant device. It's easy to use. You just insert the essential oil pad into a slot, close the slot, then twist the device to turn it on. We have used it almost every night for the last few weeks when we hang out on our porch in the evenings. The mosquitos are bad and I think this is helping to chase them away from our area.

Works rather well
So I've used this a couple times while out back grilling up food. I often get eaten alive while I am grilling so I decided to give this mosquito repellent a shot. I set it on the side of the grill and let it run for a few minutes before bringing out the food. I can stay out there cooking and socializing without a single bite. I was focused on cooking so I can't say for certain if I saw any mosquitos but I didn't feel like I seen any either time that I used it. I definitely recommend this for outdoor activities.

Not effective
Used this one night while out on my patio. I sat very close within 2 feet of this repeller and I got so many mosquito bites. I actually saw mosquitos flying near this thing. It did not repel them at all.

May be somewhat effective for specific uses
Safer Brand Safer Home SH1200 Outdoor Mosquito Repellent is made in China and runs on two AA batteries. It comes with one replaceable cartridge that is good for about 12 hours of use. This device is supposed to be effective at clearing mosquitoes from about a 20 foot area. Unfortunately, for a mosquito magnet like me, it isn’t as effective as I hoped. I have to use it in combination with a deet containing lotion or cream to avoid bites. It may work to help reduce the mosquito population in a specific area such as around an outdoor picnic table. It’s easily portable but while it may reduce the amount of mosquitoes around it, it is no match for a hungry and determined mosquito.
