How these work is a mystery to me but they do and that's all i care about.They're brilliant for making hard boiled eggs that are still just a little 'tacky' in the centre and not totally cooked through.Whether you start with cold or boilng water,so long as you put the eggs (makes no difference how many)and one of these in at the same time,you can't go wrong
