Excellent
Excellent bit of kit. Really good flow rate (puts the mini to shame) and easy to use.Definitely recommend this filter.

worth having in case of potable water emergency
arrived quicklyThis filter is used extensively by backpackers etc. you can take questionable water from puddles, streams, ponds etc and run it through this filter and it will be drinkableI like that in can backflush to clean it out and prolong the lifeI like that any standard plastic soft drink bottle or shop bought water bottle can be used to collect the water to be filtered and screwed on to this filter, squeeze the bottle upside down and clean drinking water comes out the filter. This does filter out cryptospiridium to 99% which is as good as any filters claim to achieve, and this is a fraction of the cost of many othersA huge advantage of this is that it is so small and portable. ideal for home backup or emergency use.Highly recommend backflushing this to clean it every time its used to clean dirty water. eg always filter 500ml more than what you need and backflush it with the extra 500ml to keep it clean.let it dry thoroughly after use so inside doesnt grow mould and bacteriadont let it freeze, though this seems bombproof, freezing will destroy the filter. so if you find yourself in freezing conditions, keep it close to your core body warmth, perhaps in a ziplock bag in your pocket

It's amazing
Amazing water filter. I've used this water filter all over the UK with no issues. As long as you are following the general ways of what water to use and not (use fast flowing water from the highest point possible), I've found it to be perfect. I've used it without issue with heavily polluted Peak District water and with visibly polluted Fenland river water. 6 months into mild use and no issues.

Effective piece of kit
Water filter worked really well on first bike packing trip out. I took just one "bag" and the filter which was asy to stow. Filled up water bottle and camping pot using water from a stream. Whilst the filtered water still retained a peaty colour, it tasted fine and three days later I have experienced no ill effects. Backwashing when I got home expelled some gunk from the filter - continuing a few times until the fresh water ran clear. I will certainly take it on the next trip.

Excellent for treking
Used this for a 3 week trek in Nepal last month. Very glad I chose this over the BeFree/alternative options in the end — it's extremely light to carry in a day pack (and comes with a light drawstring bag to carry the different bits and pieces), filters pretty fast, and most importantly should last a long time with proper care. Note that many other filter options need to be replaced after a certain amount of time, so theoretically this is the more sustainable option.Oh and I didn't get ill from a multitude of water sources — so the filter most likely did its job!In the UK you can find a few plastic bottles that pair with the Sawyer thread (search Reddit for this if needed). However, I found the plastic pouches that came with the filter to be much more convenient. These roll up flat and take up much less space than a water bottle would in your bag.Highly recommended!

It works!
Great filter, I already own a mini and micro squeeze and fancied something with a faster flow rate.Good size, easy to use. An excellent and portable filter. I have no doubt it will give me good service.

Get the MSR
Got this as I saw it had loads of good reviews. Took it on the coast to coast, and it was easy enough to use but our friends had the msr equivalent (trailshot). They were able to fill their bottles up much quicker than we could with the sawyer. Filling up the bag, then squeezing it through takes extra time, filling the bag up isn't as easy either if filling up from a lake as you can't always fill it all the way. It also feels cheap and brittle, but the plastic didn't crack. It's fine, but after seeing it used next to the MSR trailshot, I would buy the MSR any day.

Best on the market
Tried and tested. Perfect for the wild camping thru hiker. Lightweight, clean and a quick filter. My only recommendation is to bin off the crappy bladders they supply and get yourself a CNOC OutdoorsVecto 2L Water Container - (42mm) instead - it'll save you a lot of hassle in the filling process and screws right onto the filter. Google that product.
