Heavy, expensive, seems like great quality!
It’s heavy, 96lb sounds correct. Mine was dropped for sure, the handle was bent pretty bad(not vices fault). Smooth, strong- I’m glad I got it, but not sure I would want it even as a free gift... would probably be just as happy with a $350 Yost 880 or similar. I got it for home use, small projects on car etc, not a mechanic but wanted “the best”, wish it would have a double anvil thing... Also, it’s pretty tall, taller than I was expecting- make sure you don’t have a tall table to install it on!

Five Stars with easy tweaks
Out of the box, I was not happy with this vise. The handle was bent in multiple planes and there was a lot of play in the screw. I emailed Yost and asked them if they would help me or if I should send it back. They bent over backwards to make me happy. As a machinist, I can tell you that the screw is out of tolerance for a machine tool, to which I am accustomed. But it's a bench vise. To get the slop out of the screw to moving jaw, I just made a more precise washer on the lathe (from a malleable iron pipe flange). I also needed to clean the threads good and re-grease them. I made two rubber washers that fit tightly on the handle so that it could be centered, if desired. The result is a vise that is so nice and so precise that it makes me smile every time I use it.Even though the jaws of the 32C are only 4 ½" wide, it is very deep and opens wide. The jaws are perfectly aligned and the action is smooth. I'm giving it five stars with the easy tweaks.

Massive probably indestructible
Used for metal work, repair work. Welding heavy pieces. Weighed exactly 162# on my scale, installed on a 400# table 27.5" in diameter which includes a wilton shoe clamp and a yost chain pipe vise. Made in Taiwan.

Unbelievable vise for the money and eastwood is a good seller.
The media could not be loaded. The shipping was not good, the first vise I ordered never got to me and I had to get a refund through Amazon and order again. I was still able to get the sale price of just over $600 for a 34C vise. That is a lot of vise for the money. I was looking at the Wilton 8100m also which has wider jaws and opens further, but weighs about 40 or 50 lbs less. Both vises are made of ductile iron, so because the Yost was half the price and 1/3 heavier I bought that. No regrets, it's been a great vise with a great grip. The base was not cast correctly and the vise would bind a bit and not spin easily, it really wasn't a huge deal, and I could have ground it myself to make it spin, but I shouldn't have to on a brand new vise, so I called Eastwood tools so now owns Yost and they sent me a whole new base for it. Very happy with the customer serice/support. The vise is definitely made in Taiwan, but so are a lot of things and Taiwan is not China. It carries a lifetime warranty so I don't use the vise in fear of breaking it, I just use it. If I wanted to spend $1800 I probably would've gotten a fireball, but I do really like the 7 plus inch jaw depth, it comes in handy a lot for my uses. Even at the current price of $900, it's a lot of vise for the money, especially with the warranty. I posted the unboxing, and warranty issues and using it on youtube under "reuseful"

This is the best vice I have ever seen
This is the best vice I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money, and you will thank yourself every time you use this vice. The action is super smooth and precise. Make sure you have a sturdy top to mount it to because at 96 lbs it’s a real beast!

This is not made in the USA
The Yost company from 1908 no longer exists. It is owned by importer Eastwood tools. I purchased this vise solely because I have an older Yost vise that I am happy with. The listing states that it was made in the USA. It is not. It is made in China/Taiwan. The quality of the vise seems good and I plan to keep it however, I will take no pride in ownership. I will probably beat on it a little harder than normal, I may leave it outside in the rain and I'll always scowl when I look at it. I will hope that it breaks just so I can say its a piece of junk. Maybe it will prove me wrong, but I'll always consider it an imposter. I gave it three stars because although it is not manufactured in the USA, the tool importer still employs a lot of Americans in order for people like me to be duped by them. I will update this review if it turns out to be a piece of junk, until then this vise has been sentenced to hard daily labor in a real shop.

Great Vise
I bought this vise because I wanted a solid american made vise. It very well made and very smooth. The jaws are straight and true. I highly recommend it.
