This is built for kids that are hard on toys. My son has dropped his several times and nothing has broken or stopped working. We love this because he stays entertained with it for so long without needing screen time. This was one of his favorite Christmas gifts last year. I love that this one has a fake clock printed on it so we could also teach him about time. This is fun and educational at the same time. If your child loves to play with switches in your house but you work about safety, buy this!! This gift was well worth the price. It has an off switch so the batteries don't die so fast.

Two grandsons (6 mo, 13 mo) loved this toy although they did not have motor skills to operate. They were fascinated and intrigued (thus quiet) on long car ride. This is the toy to keep in purse or diaper bags to bring out only when you need a distraction in a line or restaurant! Although there are lights it is a QUIET toy! No noise so perfect and if it is something brought out when you need that distraction it will keep them interested. I would definitely call this a figet toy. There is only one thing I would change - there is a dial to turn that speeds up one of the items in the board. This part has lights that turn on and off around a circular pattern and teaches the children how to turn a dial, when in the fastest setting it provides overstimulation. It goes from slow, to fast,to faster,to fastest. When on fastest it just too much! I just turn it back to one if the other settings. This would not stop me from purchasing though. I bought a second one after giving mine to grandson for a long out of state car ride . This might be of interest also to a stroke victim or other wheelchair bound person, especially an engineer or scientist. I bought this for my grandson‘s birthday. He just turned 1, little did I know his two sisters ages 3 and 5 love it almost as much as he does. With all the gears, gadgets and switches. It keeps them busy for hours. Well built very durable. It’s smaller than I imagined, but it works. It’s great for their size. Hands. A lot of different color lights.

My son got one of these (version 2) for his first birthday and he has loved it! However, being one, he drops it a lot. When he drops it, the battery gets a bit loose, and we have to get the screwdriver out to fix it. We bought version 4 as well, and it has the same issue, even more touchy than the other one.Other than that, it’s been great! Entertaining, sturdy wood, a variety of switches at different levels of ability. He’s had it for 3 months and still can’t work out the key yet, so there’s still something for him to figure out. He just figured out pulling the cord out and putting it back in. In version 4, I think it’ll be a little while before he gets the music box.

The music box ready broke and the light conductor doesn’t work. Three stars only because the lights are bright. The only reason I got the V4 was for the conductor so that sucks.
