Nupro Custom Electrolyte Formula for Dogs (1 lb)

This is a wonderful product - I believe it is helping to sustain my little dog who has been diagnosed with liver cancer and the meds he is on dehydrates him so he is weak and listless - baby pedialyte is too "sugary" but Nupro Electrolytes are awesome - I mix into his water and he is a new pup within about a 1/2 hour because these electrolytes have refreshed him. Also, the owners of the company were so nice and answered my questions when I phoned them for advice.

I have very active athletic dogs that participate in several canine sports. Most of these happen outside during warm weather and my dogs expend a lot of energy, especially when racing. It is hard to get one of my dogs to drink enough water while at events because she is so focused on what is happening around her and it is not always feasible to remove her from the venue to get her a drink, so I was looking for something to supplement her body with during high activity times. I use both the Nupro joint supplement and the Nupro supplements 330015 so I was excited to find that Nupro also had an electrolyte supplement. I now use this twice per week for maintenance, and before/during/after a sport day. I mix the electrolytes in a little bit of water along with the Nupro supplement 330015 and feed it to them just before a meal. Our traveling season is just about to start, so I have not yet tried mixing it in their drinking water at events. I do not add it to their drinking water at home either as I live in a multi dog household with a communal water bowl. They give me no trouble ingesting the electrolytes mixed with the liver flavored daily supplement in some water, but I'm not sure yet how they will do with it in just plain water. Since I have been using the electrolytes my dogs recover much better after a hard workout or fast paced Agility session.

Use with a plastic syringe to give our heavy coated dogs a boost in the hot summer.

Our Dogs love the taste when added to their water or food. Seems to help them....not sure because they don't talk! 😀

My dogs can't taste it, but I give half of the recommended dose and maybe once a week...if that. Only because it's so high in sodium and one of my dogs has congested heart failure. I wish I would have looked at the sodium content before I bought it. Other than that, it's good stuff to have.

Our Boxer/German Shepherd mix loves to be outside, hike through the mountains/woods, and generally loves to be active. However, it gets very hot and humid here in North Carolina. We noticed after some long active days during the NC summers she would show signs of dehydration such as muscle cramps and muscle tremors. We found the Nupro electrolyte supplement and decided to give it a try. When we know we have some outside activities planned we follow the directions to prep her electrolyte levels and then also administer maintenance doses twice a week throughout the year. It's made an impressive difference. Even at 10 years old she's very peppy even when it's hot outside and the muscle cramps have gone away.One tip we have, don't try to add it to their water. They might not always drink it or if you have multiple animals sharing the water it's hard to know if everyone has received a proper dosage. We add it to the dog's dry food and add a bit of water to the kibble to help dissolve it. Our dog really seems to enjoy the supplement that way and always empties the bowl.

My dog won't drink water with this electrolyte mixed in. I've had it for almost two months and tried various mixing ratios but even highly diluted in water, my dog will barely touch it. When I dump it out and put fresh water in its place, my dog drinks the plain water immediately, so I know she's thirsty. The seller had no input as to how to make it work better, they said contact the manufacturer, which I've had trouble doing that as well. Maybe find a different product if you're looking for dog hydration. I live in Arizona and I'm out hiking and running the dog all summer, so I need a good product. Too bad this one was a bust.

I keep this product on hand for the hot, humid days and diarrhea episodes. My dog loves the taste and I haven't had any dehydration episodes since he was a puppy. No more trips to the vet for dehydration.
