Good for beginners
I'm just starting to try my hand at sewing, and muslin is known for being a cheap option for mockup patterns. I do a lot of LARPing so I'm going to see how many fabric belts I can get out of this yard of muslin, and since it's cotton it should take dye pretty well. I'm looking forward to trial-and-erroring my way through this.

Good Muslin
This muslin is great! I got it for test patterns because it is a lot cheaper to test on muslin than on an expensive fabric. I love how white this one is so it is easy to mark for patterns. It is nice quality and just the right thickness to be easy to work with.Be aware that muslin is not an especially soft or thick fabric. But, it has a lot of different uses in sewing.

Okay - fabric cut
This 120" Wide Bleached Pure White Muslin Sheeting Fabric/Textile is nice. It is a lovely white, really soft, and thin. Seems tuff enough to do embroidery on. Big problem is it didn't come in one continous cut. The fabric was cut when sent to me.

Did not arrive in a continuous length
The description says " Order of multiple quantities will be shipped in continuous length." but I received five individually wrapped yards.

Not soft at all
I’ll admit, I haven’t used muslin often, so I don’t have much to compare this with. However, I was expecting this to have a little softness. Instead, it was rather stiff and, while not exactly rough, it certainly didn’t have a “smooth finish with a soft touch” as described in the listing. I thought that washing it on a cool, gentle cycle might soften it up some, but it didn’t. In fact, it came out so horribly wrinkled and ratty looking, and not soft at all. The 120” width was pretty close; it measured about 119” when I laid it out after unpackaging, and since it had some deep creases, it was likely 120” if it had been pressed. The 1 yard cut was short, however. One side was cut pretty straight, but the other was rather crooked, and at the widest it was only 35 inches. I also found a defect where the fabric had some fuzzy pilling. I ordered the “Natural” color. I’ve included some photos of it with a piece of white paperboard on it for comparison. I’ve also attached photos of it laid out when I received it, the small defect I found, and what it was like after a cool, gentle wash and dry on low heat. For the price, I have to say I’m not impressed.

Like the natural color
I got this hoping to use it for a quilt backing. Although it is only a yard long but 120" wide, I figured I could cut it in half so I would have 2 pieces 60" by 36". I would sew the two pieces together to get a 60" by 72" piecd minus seams. That is enough for one of the 6 quilt tops that I managed to sew in the last 4.5 months. It does feel medium weight, but with close examination the weave looks very loose so I am going to prewash it, something I rarely do when making quilts. I want to be sure that it won't shrink up a lot from the front of the quilt. I have had enough experience with muslin to know that it can shrink a lot. I did notice that the selvedge is tightly woven and 5/8" wide so you could cut it off and use it in place of twill tape if needed.I appreciate the opportunity to try out this muslin. Thank you.

Good Quality Muslin
I like to use muslin for testing patterns for woven fabrics because you can make adjustments easily and don't have to cut into the good fabric first. I also like being able to have it delivered to my door instead of going out to a store to buy it. This muslin is good quality and easy to work with. I was able to cut out the pattern and make adjustments easily to this fabric to create a beautiful fit for the finished garment.
