Powerful, Effective and not too Loud
Our flat gets incredibly hot and stuffy in summer (hotter than it is outside). So I was a bit concerned that because this fan doesn't swing from side to side and is designed to sit on the floor it wouldn't cool the room well enough. My worries were misplaced. Even though it sits on the floor pointing in one direction I can feel the difference anywhere in the room. It can pivot back quite far, so you could aim it straight at the ceiling if you wanted to. At night I point it upwards and the whole room feels much more breezy and pleasant, even though the fan isn't pointing directly at me.There are three speed settings, but so far I've only been using the lowest setting. This produces a nice strong flow of air. While it makes some obvious noise, to me it's an even and unobtrusive sound. It quickly fades into the background and I've had no trouble sleeping with it on or sitting at my computer with the fan on next to me. The two faster settings are obviously noisier, but I doubt you'll ever really need to activate them unless it were a very hot day and you had a large room. Since I haven't had to use them I can't really say whether the noise they produce is overbearing.Last point is that as far as fans go this one looks rather stylish to me. I'm not a big fan of sci-fi looking tower fans, and wanted something a bit nicer than a generic white plastic pedestal fan. This one suits the bill and works very well.

Classic design and very effective
I read all the reviews carefully and whilst I had a nagging doubt after I'd ordered that it would turn out to be too noisy or powerful this fan is fantastic. I love the classic, simple, fuss free style and that it comes ready to use straight out of the box.The reviews I've read seem to point out the noise as being the only negative factor. When I switched it on I wondered what all the fuss was about. It's not silent but I don't find the sound to be overly intrusive. However it is worth noting that when I then turned it on at night I was aware of the noise. So my guess is that for those people who live in cities and are used to the ambient noise that brings, you'll find that this fan isn't offensively loud and I would imagine that you'll quickly get used to it. If you're used to complete quiet or want a silent fan then you'll be disappointed but that being said I think you'll get used to it. Unless you're using it in a tiny room.In terms of cooling a room down I'm absolutely a convert to the this air circulator concept as opposed to an oscillating fan. The room stays cool and if you're not standing directly in front and have it pointing at the ceiling, everyone benefits from the gentle breeze it creates as it circulates the air. Very happy and love the design. Be aware that it's quite large. I think it's the blades which measure the 18 inches or 45 centimetres. So you can see from the image that the grill cover extends a bit further.

Very powerful cooling effect, but not quiet
I love this fan. Only reason I didn't melt during the heatwave and possibly the best thing I've ever bought. OK, it is loud; but it is a white noise rather than hideously obtrusive. It is very powerful. If you stand behind this fan, you can feel the air moving that is being sucked into it, get in from work having stood on a packed sauna like train and stand in front of this fan and, what can I say, it doesn't quite literally blow you away, but metaphorically for sure. At night I actually have it on the landing outside the bedroom - it's that powerful and it's the only reason I've been cool enough to sleep. Like most fans, it has 3 speed settings, but it is nothing at all like a tower fan - the fastest speed on those (I already have 2, did I mention I can't cope with the heat?) is no where near as powerful as the slowest setting on this. Not cheap, but what price do you put on being able to sleep at night?

Cool air at fair price
I bought this for our gym at home. In the heat of summer you need something to just let you cool down. This is a great fan. I wanted one that could tilt and sit on a ledge. This is great, it has three settings and on the full blast it will literally move glasses, paper, anything of a minimal weight. The fan sits a good 4 metres from the intended target and it really does pack a punch. In fact it cools a standard room very well, even with two adults exercising in it. When we were buying a fan I looked at quite a lot. Many were much more expensive than this. I doubt they would do the job any better as we are very happy. In those long summer nights it will be travelling to my bedroom. The only issue is the noise I guess as it is a little noisy. The cable is a good length and it doesn't move around as its fan moves.

Serious piece of kit that is just the job for a hot day !
This is a heavy duty fan …. you'd usually see this type of thing in a gym, but I bought it in the height of summer to keep us cool at home. Yes, its noisy but boy does it work so well (and I can sleep through it whirring away, as can my children !!). Whilst of course its not an air conditioner, it circulates the air beautifully and definitely cools and makes a fabulous difference to a hot room. Easy to move with a handle on the top and not as heavy as you'd expect but its well made and worth every penny. You can also angle it up and down so you have some options for direction of the breeze it creates which is also handy. Doesn't look at all bad either, its got a retro vibe too.

Worth every penny!
I bought this fan to replace an ancient one which was slow and just blew hot air around the room. Nightmare in the current UK heatwave!I can happily say that I now feel cool (and less miserable!) again. It's extremely powerful and sends a lovely big breeze around the room that you're in. No more constant sweating in rooms like saunas!3 settings, each very fast and powerful, and an adjustable head. It's also much bigger than you'd probably expect, so don't expect to shove it onto a bedside table. Only drawback that some people (not me) is that it is a noisy fan. I actually quite like that aspect though :)Absolutely worth the £50 it's asking for. This is a quality fan and will guarantee to cool you and your house/flat down in a beat.
