Worked perfect to plug a hole where a dead bolt used to be. I used it on a door on my chicken coop, so I didn't care about appearances. It is silver, so it'll never blend in with the color of the door. I'm not sure how easily it could be painted.My only criticism would be that the screw is short enough where at first glance you're not going to think it'll reach through the width of the door... but it will. You just have to put both pieces up and you'll see it'll reach.

Perfect cover for door hole
I drilled a small hole in my door so I can run wire through when the need arises. When I don’t need, I cover the hole this, elegantly!

Does the trick.
Had a son in law that kicked my step daughters door in (More than once). Go figure!? Had to rebuild the jam and the door was so messed up I had to install a second lock above it. This product covered the old hole with no problems. It took longer to find my screwdriver than it did to install it.
