It has a handle! Make sure you buy one with a handle!
Well I like it!This composter was my mums. Then it became mine years later. It is finally on its last legs and I want to buy another. This machine, has a handle.Look at the others for sale out there ... no handle...When a composter is full of, well, compost, it is SO HARD TO TURN ... unless you have a handle - like this one!My mum had one of those other kinds, that you have to drag around with your hands. She couldn’t do it!I could hardly do it!Get one with a handle! Save yourself some grief!- note to seller ... make these ones again please!

Mantis Compact Composter.
This came in a cardboard Flat Pack which was quite heavy. It needs assembly and previous experience of assembling Flat Packs is useful. I recommend carefully reading the instructions and following the sequence strictly as shown. I also carefully got the Screws, Washers etc for a section out and put them in a dish so you ensure you have the correct items. There are a couple of pages that show what various items are, I kept them visible at all times to ensure I was using the correct items. You need a reasonably large space to assemble the Compost Maker, I did mine in my Conservatory so I was under cover as it took me a couple of days and it rained! There Instructions are quite good, but a couple of items were not shown clearly enough to be sure how to connect them, I of course did it the wrong way round the first time. Generally all the Bolts and Nuts went together easily, but 2 large Bolts would not take their nuts and without the aid of a friend with taps and dies I would have had to send away for replacements. All in all not an easy job, but hopefully the results will justify the effort.

Bought one of these ten years ago. It has ...
Bought one of these ten years ago. It has worked very well, but eventually the handle rusted and the crank snapped off. The barrel did develop some rust cracks, but was functionally intact when the handle came off at the weld with the main frame. I live in Surrey, UK

Rubbish
This product is made of inferior plastic and I bought a new drive cog for it but had to make it stronger by filling it in with resin, now the whole side of the bin has split and collapsed from the main bearing, very expensive product made with inferior materials, The bin was only 1/3 full when this happened and only 2 years old.

Our Second: Best one we’ve found
We were so happy to find this tumbler available again. We just purchased our second. Our first one rusted out after maybe 10 years. We couldn’t find this kind, so we shopped around and tried another kind, but like all the others we found, it had doors that are too small to fit a pitchfork. What? So we patched our Mantis tumbler with sheet metal and got a few more years out of it, but other parts rusted through, and thankfully we found it’s available again. Though we know this one will eventually deteriorate, 10 years isn’t bad, and it’s the most functional compost tumbler on the market. We assembled the new one today: FYI, it takes two people to assemble.

utilisation

It isn't red!
I have one of these 30 years old. Works great. Wanted a second one because the first is still so good. AMAZON text said it was red. I considered going to a farm store in our area that sells them for another $200, but $200 can by lots paint to turn it green, so I decided to buy from Amazon. It delivered green, just like the old one. YAY! Definitely helps to have 2 people for assembly, one for holding and one for tightening bolts, but goes together easily enough. No missing parts.

Absolut inkorrekt
