Easy to write with and use
When they come out with the filler unit to fill the ink bottle they should offer a combined offer. Don't make the refiller unit to expensive. Hope it does come out next month.

Easy to fill, but how do you empty it, and how do you clean it out if you want to change inks?
Yes, this pen loads ink very cleanly. If all you ever want to do is fill the pen with ink and write with it until it runs low, and then re-fill it with the same ink, that's great. But what do I do if I want to use a different ink for the second or third or nth fill? Can I empty residual ink out of the pen? Can I flush it clean so I can use a different color? If I put a different color ink into the ink bottle (that seems to be possible if you can find one of those fillers to buy) it seems like the first penful (at least) would be a mix of the current black and the new color. That's not something most fountain pen users would find acceptable. So what is the process?

oops
worked fine first time the pen was filled...the seal leaked on subsequent refill attempts.

Super Unique and Fun Pen
This is an interesting pen and I was curious to try out the self-inking feature. To my surprise this device works really well and makes re-inking the pen hassle-free. You basically just insert one end of the pen into the supplied ink well and it fills up. I don't know what it is in the device that works so well, but it does and I was truly impressed. To be honest I wish that all fountain pens were made like this because it makes refilling so easy.I like the quality of the pen and nibs. The pen body is smooth and slightly heavy, however it is well balanced and feels good while writing. The pen nib itself is slightly scratchy, but personally I like a scratchy feeling tip while writing and I found it to be satisfyingly so. I found that this pen is best suited for writing as opposed to inking or designing, but it definitely could be used for such. The ink flow is good and I only experienced slight drying between uses. Even between long periods of time (in-between uses) did the ink cease to flow, but it quickly began to flow again after some shaking and encouragement.Takeaways:-Easy to fill/refill-Ample amount of refill ink (includes 1 full bottle of black ink)-Comfortable grip and interesting transparent body-Easy to estimate the amount of ink in the pen at all times-Fine tip is suitable for writing or sketching-Cap seals tightly-Fine tip Nib does not flex at allOverall I found this to be really unique pen that has a great feature. I really like the self inking feature and I would definitely buy more of these just for this reason alone. I would like to see variable tip sizes, as I like to write in calligraphy and this pen tip size is to small for that.

A bit...weird in design
The fountain pen—and yes, I will admit a certain fondness for fountain pens, Gentle Reader, despite the obvious technical advantages of a ballpoint—is an established, some might say a "legacy," technology. There is, frankly, not a lot of room left in Fountain Pen Innovation. We reached Peak Fountain Pen decades ago, with any additional improvements only at the margins. The fountain pen is, as these things go, a mature writing technology. So it is with some small measure of bafflement that I must confess they kinda messed things up here. Now, don't get me wrong, it does what a fountain pen should do. It holds liquid ink, it writes, so far we're golden. It's not terribly attractive, and honestly it feels a bit flimsy, but hey, it's a pen, not a fighter jet or a work of art.But where it kinda goes wrong is that this fountain pen requires you to buy additional pieces parts if you want to keep using it. And no, I don't mean ink, though we'll get to that.Does it write well? Sure. It's a middle-grade pen, it is not the smoothest pen you'll ever encounter, but it's not the worst either. It works as well as you might expect. It has a modestly clever special ink bottle from which it draws ink, which is why it's billed as "self-inking." The special ink bottle works—you stick the pen in and it fills. Awesome, right? A lot of modern fountain pens use ink cartridges, but purists sometimes prefer a pen you fill from an ink bottle......and that's where things get strange. It draws ink from a special bottle, but here's the thing...you can't easily refill that bottle. There's a dedicated, special-purpose tool that you need to have to take ink and put it into that special self-inking bottle. And that tool? It isn't included with this set. You need to buy it separately. So you're good until you run out of the ink that comes with it, at whchi point it's on you to get more ink, AND get the dedicated tool to transfer the ink from the bottle it came in to the special self-inking bottle, at which point you can now transfer the ink from the special self-inking bottle to the pen.Bit of a faff, that.I actually debated giving this three stars rather than four. A better rating would be 3.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I decided in a spirit of generosity to say four. But mentally, think three point five.

Interesting Take on the Fountain Pen w/Self Inking Function
This fountain pen has a clean design and a really interesting self inking function. The nib was ready to write right out of the box Ghe ink glow was smooth as. steady and the pen was overall easy to use immediately.

I wish I could use my own inks
The concept and execution are pretty darned cool. Just put it on the base and it inks itself. The only thing I don't like is the proprietary inkwell. I have some interesting ink colors I use all the time, it would be nice if I could use them instead. If you want to buy into the system, this could work for you. Seeing it isn't Lamy or another big name in fountain pens, I don't think they will be available long (still looking for an HD-DVD copy of Forrest Gump /jk). I like it, but I can't recommend it.
