nice waterproof plug/outlet combo for RV solar
I got this to make an extension cord for my solar panels, so I can park in the shade, and put the panels in the sun. Haven't used it yet, but it looks great, well built, quality plastic and seals. The connections are too small for 10 gauge wire, but only by a little, and it's no big deal at all, really. I've heard audiophiles talk about avoiding nicking speaker wires while stripping them, so as to avoid degrading the sound quality... Sheesh. What people need to understand is that the point of having thick wire is to reduce overall resistance along the entire run, which becomes more important at lower voltages. Resistance wastes power as heat, so 12v wires are a lot thicker than 120v wires to avoid resistive losses and voltage drops. But the wire can constrict a little, or indeed a lot, at certain points in the circuit, for short distances, without a problem; this is why and how fuses work; they're as small as they need to be to heat up and melt with a specific overcurrent, and that's tiny compared to the wire they're protecting. So, it's perfectly fine if you have to trim some strands of copper to make 10 gauge fit, and if the connection ended up a little thinner in that spot, it wouldn't matter much and wouldn't be an issue. But remember that at that point, the sleeve around the wire counts as a conductor, and it's thicker than the wire, so no problem at all, you're actually increasing the conductor area even if you had to trim some strands, just get a good solder joint, and blob on a little extra if it makes you feel better :)Other than that, I like this thing, will mount it up to the rig. The teensy mounting hardware that comes with it is oddly short, so you'll probably need longer if you mount to anything more than wafer thin.Connects and disconnects easily, with a satisfying little click. Nice tethered cap. Wish it had another for the cable end, too, actually, as that would be slick. If I was designing this, I would have put the male/female the other way around, (pins to power) so there's even less danger of a short, and they do make them the other way around, but I guess the solar RV world uses the Furrion standard to some extent, so I stuck with that.I'll post back with durability updates if it ever fails, but no news is good news, and it looks like a good piece, so five stars for now!

Good quality.
Great connection for RV solar panels. Wish they had a more than 10a version. Easy to install and use provided you have a soldering iron. Thicker wire will act as heat sync for high current applications.

Good connector, but hard to solder
Pro: Good, solid connection between the plug and the receptacle. Good compression cover on the plug to help keep out moisture (I packed it with dielectric grease to help seal it up).Con: The contacts in the receptacle are small and close together, making it difficult to solder. Be patient.

Good connector
Good connector, seems solidly built. A bit larger than I expected, but great neverless. I like the fact that it came with a dust cover for the panel mount side.

BEWARE - requires soldering
Well made product. Really happy with quality. Giving it a 5 star review, but not happy about the need to solder. Using this to make an RV quick connect plug. Wish me luck!

Not 1/4 Quick bayonet coupling
What I received was a pin connection type not a1/4 Quick bayonet connection. From the looks of the size of pin I would not want to run over 2-3 amps. It also says pin on the package. It was to be installed on a boat about 1 hour away, so waisted several hours. NOT HAPPY

Very nice!
These connectors aren't cheap but they're very high quality. There is a rubbery gasket between the panel connector and the panel so I expect it to be rainproof with the connector cover installed.
