A great product but had to download software to watch blu rays, works great though and would recommend it for laptops without disk drives and has 2 spare usb ports, no problems with it.

Quite compact and stylish with a stand to hold it vertically to save space. On the Mac, you don't need the install disk. Use the Check Disk utility to ensure it has been detected. To READ Blu-Ray disks, you will need a reader application, but you can get these free online. I use FREE MAC BLU-RAY PLAYER and it works fine. To go full screen it says to buy the Pro version, but you can manually expand the screen by dragging the sides out. No problems so far. For burning, I didn’t like the drag and drop. My procedure:- load a blank disk. Select the items to be burned. Right click on selected items and select “burn items to disk”. Change the cd name if required then click OK. It takes two passes to write and then verify the cd. Works fine!

Good delivery lovely little blu ray player my only issue is when I play my blu rays they stop half way through for no reason?

Just for those worrying about it's compatibility with OS X. It works fine as a plug and play device with both my iMac and MacBook Pro. It plays DVD's one would expect. It plays Blu-rays too, BUT you need to use software like "Mac Blu-ray Player" to do so. It doesn't work with the menus, but it plays things back just fine. As a plug and play device for simply reading discs for the purposes of ripping them (I copy all my discs to a media server for local playback around the house) it's perfect. It's a little slow, but then it is USB bus powered. The included cable has a (shortish, 1ft maybe?) forked USB plug too, so there are two. This is for when a single port isn't able to deliver enough power to run it, though if you're using a Mac or any USB 3.0 port it should work just fine with just the thicker of the two (Macs push more amps through the port than is standard on the normal USB 2.0 spec and 3.0 pushes more for charging things like tablets). The drive is also reasonably loud when seeking, though it's not too bad otherwise. The tray feels a little flimsy but it's more robust than it appears, but still be careful. The stand is quite nice, if not a little peculiar with the angle they chose.

I have now had 2 of these drives and they have both failed around 12 months old with the exact same problem. The centre plastic connection that holds the disks in place comes off the rotating centre spindle if you aren't very careful removing discs. After a few times, it doesn't go back on correctly and the spindle spins slightly inside the holder, meaning the disks do not spin up to the correct speed and so not play correctly. I cannot recommend these drives as they are expensive and only seem to have a life span of about 12 months. Also Asus have told me twice now that they do not support the drives and it is up to the retailer to support them. Amazon replaced the first drive but the second one they have so far said it is up to Asus to support, so I am left with a plastic paperweight.

I think there is only one way to properly express all my complaints with this and this is in a list 1. NO AACS BLU-RAY PLAYER KEY INCLUDED. Seriously! With windows 8.1 there is no included support for any blu-ray playback whatsoever, now yes there are some free players (VLC media player) but they don't include AACS support (Encryption on Blu-ray movies), therefore can't really play movies on windows 8.1 without buying something like cyberlink power dvd pro (with blu-ray support) £40+, I mean a company like Asus is huge and can easily negotiate for a much lower price (due to buying bulk keys) and on a £55 blu ray reader I would expect to maybe BE ABLE TO WATCH BLU-RAY MOVIES. 2. The cable it comes with is about 15cm long.... absolutely no benefit to having it as an external drive without extender cables (which I have, but resent having to use, especially as if you only use USB 2.0 it wants 2 ports) 3. GLOSSY PLASTIC!!! Yes, it looks nice on B-roll from the factory and looks okay in pictures. But on a disc drive where you need to push it (and therefore touch it) to close the disc drive it just becomes a finger-printy mess, not to mention the slightest scratch gets picked up instantly and you can never get rid of it. Simply to put in a disc you will need to touch some of its glossy plastic and therefore you will make it forever tarnished, would it have killed them to use some sort of brushed finish or just a matte plastic? 4. The stand. It really doesn't stick to the desk well at all. It simply doesn't have enough rubber on the bottom to make it so that you don't have to hold it while pushing the disk tray shut, thereby getting fingerprints all over it. BTW I got mine from Ebuyer where it had (reasonably) positive reviews.

To start with this player first appeared in 2012 and has not it seems been updated to work with the current Windows programming - though it might possibly work with W8?. it needs two USB 2.0 ports and, according to the enclosed manual, will probably not work using a hub. And it did not as I needed to use a hub as only one of my 5 USB ports is 2.0. Basically past its sell by date.

This plays DVDs fine out of the box but the installation disk doesnt even come with a blu ray player so you cant play blu ray disks at all unless you shell out another £30-70 quid on a blu ray software suite. None of this is explained on the packaging or instructions. I spent 3 hours playing around with computer settings and searching the web before I found this out. Very poor showing.

Har testat att bränna DVD och titta på DVD- och Blue Ray film. Verkar göra vad den skall. Power2Go som följde med var version 8 som är gammal. Verkar dock fungera på min Win 11 PC. Program för att spela upp Blue Ray film följer ej med. Stödet som finns med fungerar visserligen men känns lite instabilt. Då jag spelar upp en Blue Ray film laggar den lite någon gång. Kan dock vara min PC. USB-kabeln som följde med var lite kort.

ich muss sagen das ich wirklich sehr zufrieden bin mit diesen Blu-ray Laufwerk, ich nutze den Asus SBC-06D2X an meinen Laptop (Acer Aspire 5734Z) unter den Betriebssystem Windows 8 , und es funktioniert alles super. Ausgepackt, Laufwerk an Standfuß montiert, über beiliegendes Y-USB Kabel am Laptop angeschlossen , Turbo-Engine (Driver) der auf der mitgelieferten CD-Rom enhalten ist installiert , sowie das programm (Power2Go) was mit enhalten ist um Filme, Musik etc. auf Blu-ray zu Brennen. Und fertig , Das Brennen und Lesen von Blu-rays funktioniert so wie es soll, meiner meinung nach arbeitet das Laufwerk bei Lesen von DVDs & BDs angenehm leise , beim brennen wird er etwas lauter , aber alles noch akzeptabel. Das Design sieht wirklich sehr gut aus, sehr schlicht , aber dennoch elegant. das einzige was mich stört ist , das man sich kaum traut es anzufassen , weil durch den schwarzen klavier lack , man sofort fingerabdrücke sieht , Bitte versucht nicht die fingerabdrücke mit einen herkömmlich tuch etc. wegzuwischen , aus erfahrunegn weiß ich das klavier lack sehr empfindlich ist , und sofort kratzer enstehen wenn man mit herkömmlichen tüchern o.ä. versucht die fingerabdrücke weg zu machen , dafür gibt es spezielle microfaser tücher. ansonsten ist dieses externe Blu-ray Laufwerk wirklich weiter zu empfehlen!

No he probado el reproductor de BR, pero la grabadora funciona en mac conectandola con un unico cable, aunque trae el tipico con dos tomas por si va falto de potencia. Mi mac es un 13" late 2013, por si sirve de referencia. He grabado los discos al maximo de velocidad directamente desde finder.

Très bon produit, ergonomique et silencieux Marche très bien sur Macbook Pro Yosemite. Au vu de nombreux commentaires de clients se plaignant du produit ne comprennant pas ce qu'ils venaient d'acheter je vais clarifier les choses pour les futurs acheteurs : C'est un LECTEUR BLURAY donc il lit ces derniers si l'on possèdent des logiciels pouvant lire le format bluray (la plupart du temps payant) sur l'ordi. Pour ma part, je ripe mes BLURAY via un logiciel pour les convertir en MKV afin de pouvoir les lire avec VLC par exemple. Ça marche très bien pour moi. C'est également un LECTEUR ET GRAVEUR DVD : capable de lire les DVD comme les BLURAY mais aussi de les graver. MAIS IL NE GRAVE PAS LES BLURAY, c'est à dire qu'il est incapable d'écrire des données sur un disque format bluray, il est en revanche tout à fait capable d'écrire sur des DVD. Enfin il est évidemment impossible de le connecter directement sur une TV et de s'en servir comme un lecteur bluray de salon, pour ce faire il faut obligatoirement passer par un ordinateur et un câble HDMI. Sachez bien ce que vous achetez ! Le produit est conforme à mes attentes et fonctionne impeccablement.
