I cut my own mat boards, so I buy i large pieces and thus I have a lot of the same colors. These were a great supplement to my inventory because it came with weird colors that I would not want a lot of backstock on, but are perfect for that one specific instance. I create bright, abstract dream art and the traditional colors do not do my work justice, between hand cutting specific colors and fun random packs like this, my color selection is great. Golden State Art is also an amazing company, I use them for my art business, their mats, backings, and bags have ALWAYS been in pristine condition. If you haven’t tried their Clear bags for the boards, you are missing out. They are one of the only companies that place the bag adhesive on the back of the bags rather than the flaps, but I digress. Focusing back on the assorted mats, I love the colors and it was a great spread. I would recommend this if you are looking to have a few odd colors on hand for that unique project. I would not count on that assorted pack to have specific colors every time, or the high demand colors (white, black, beige, eggshell…)

The assorted colors made it easy to decide which mat would look best for my painting. Now I have an assortment to choose from for all my projects going forward! Good value for the money!

I thought the description said that they come with a backing, but they don't.

I was nervous at first glance from the side, because I was able to peak at what initially looked like a large number of orange and yellow based colors, when I was hoping that with a purchase of 25 random colors, that I'd get a shade of green close enough to frame my print (mountains and fields). As I spread them out in 6's I was pleasantly surprised and rewarded with many beautiful and usable colors. The quality is great, and the packaging was sturdy, despite my roommate accidentally dropping the box on the ground. I bought this and a 10 pack of the black mats (as backup, and for another picture I need to frame), and I'm very glad I did. Thanks, this has saved me from shelling out $189 average a picture frame to have a custom framing place do this for me instead. Also, now I can add "proper framing techniques" to my DIY accomplishment list! You can't go wrong with the 25 purchase; for $7 more than the 10 mat purchase, you get a much wider variety of colors and, dare I say, are almost guaranteed to get a color close to what you're looking for. The $7 more is worth it; I'll buy this again in the future or recommend it to others looking to frame art themselves! :)
