Finally!! A headphone intercom setup that works GREAT!! in a SXS
My wife and I really enjoy driving our SXS on the many miles of off-road trails here in NW Arizona. One problem...we can't talk to one another and express the enjoyment of the ride without stopping because (everybody that has one knows) SXSs are LOUD!! After trying and returning quite a few (even more expensive) headsets to Amazon because our voices just didn't sound clear and would cut in and out. I believe I finally found the perfect setup!! The Kore P1 headsets paired with a Flightcom 11SX intercom works great together. They are voice activated, made for pilots talking to the tower and passengers, but they work great in a SXS. These headsets block out ALL unwanted engine, transmission, and wind noise allowing amazingly clear voices and music to enter your ears. The mic "opens" hands free, as soon as you say something and "closes" as soon as you stop talking. No...no system is perfect. These headsets are designed to be used in a non wind cockpit, not driving 20-40mph down a dirt road, so when the wind hitting your mic reaches about 15-20 mph the mic opens up and you will hear some wind noise. That's why I added a Cubilux dead cat windscreen over the existing foam mic cover. I can now drive about 30 MPH before I start hear wind in the headsets. For music, I use a Dodosoul 128GB MP3 player with a 128GB SD card that has all my favorite songs (over 100) loaded on it. Plug a short 3.5mm cord from the MP3 player to the intercom and "bingo" music to both headsets with volume control on both the headsets and the MP3 player! I also installed gel ear pads from Kore. I bought everything from Amazon and the entire set up cost me $427.00 TOTALLY worth it!! UPDATE!...! Now that my wife and I have gone on about 15 one hour trail rides since we started using these headsets, I can sum them up with one word "Incredible" Why are they so good? We can now carry on a normal conversation, like we have during breakfast or when we're out driving in the car. No more LOUD engine noise shouting "what did you say?" Hun! or "I can't hear you" Being able to talk and clearly hear one another using your normal speaking volume is a real "game changer"!! And when you're not talking, music continues to play with its separate volume control. Also, I'm still using the original 9V battery in the intercom after 15+ hours of use. This very inexpensive intercom setup is a "MUST" have for all SXS!! My wife loves the headsets!! 2nd update 6/25...After 7 months using the Kore P1 headsets paired with the Flightcom 11SX intercom in our SXS, they continue to work GREAT!! We usually go for 2-30-45 minutes rides everyday on the many miles of desert trails here in the high desert of NW Arizona. This set-up is a MUST HAVE in a SXS!!

Good quality for the price
I ordered this headset because it was the cheapest one I could find and with good reviews. I right away bought the gel cushions for it as well since I saw in the reviews it was better. The first headset I bought did not work and my flight instructor could not hear me no matter how much we tried to change the settings in the aircraft. Unfortunately, it was past my time for free returns but i was able to get some of my money back and I bought another set. This is the one I’m using now and i haven’t had any problems with it. I can hear everything on the radio clearly, i am heard clearly, the gel cushions are comfortable, and I can still hear the engine enough. It does have some strong clamping action though so if that bothers you, you might want to invest more for a different headset because after a 4+ hour flight it starts to hurt a little bit. But if you’re looking for something good and cheap I’d definitely recommend.

Perfect headset with the exception of the ear cups...
This headset is superb. I have tried David Clarks and Telex Echelons, but these surpassed both of those in overall performance. I recently started flight training in a Cessna 172, and used an old set of David Clarks for my first two lessons. I was told those were the "industry standard". Honestly, I was not impressed. Granted, this headset has seen a few hours of flight, but I noticed that I needed to basically yell for my voice to get picked up by the mic, which would inevitably lead to my instructor asking "why are you yelling?" I figured it was just the age of the headset that was causing issues. I then picked up a pair of Telex Echelon 25XTs from my brother, who used them during his training. This headset was much better in the sense that I could talk normally into the mic and get picked up. This was also by far the most comfortable headsets I had ever put on. I had no issue with these except for the fact that I needed to buy my own. When the time came for me to buy a headset, I ended up narrowing down the search to a pair of refurbished David Clark 10-13.4s ($300), Telex Echelon 25XT ($400), and these Kore P1s ($90). I went with the last option after reading reviews and also for being cheap. Before I go into the pros & cons, let me emphasize the NEED for gel ear seals with these (this is why I docked a star). The pre-installed seals are downright sad. I bought the Kore gel seals for around $25 and it is well worth it. The pros and cons will reflect my feelings about the headset with the gel seals on them. THE PROS: - The amount of background noise that gets through is just right- you could hear the engine sputter if if were to happen, but it is comfortable enough not to be overwhelmed. - The mic picks up my voice so easily- in a C172 at 1700rpm, I could practically whisper and my voice would come over - Everything coming over the radios sounds very clear - The ear seals provide great comfort - The headband is very comfy and doesn't look like someone just put a pillow underneath metal (*ahem* David Clark) - The color is subtle and sleek THE CONS: - The metal mic adjuster doesn't seem to want to stay in the same place very easily (compared the the free moving ones) Compared the the David Clark and the Telex headsets that I previously used, this headset actually surpassed my expectations and performed better than all of the above at a price that was much, much cheaper. The only reason I docked a star was because of those pitiful ear cups. Come on!

Headphones 100% worth it for flying and for student pilots.
Really great headphones for beginner,100% worth it. I bought another headphones way cheaper and it totally suck!! My instructor told me that my voice was cutting off every time, and he couldn’t hear me, sometimes. I always had to move my mic closer to my mouth, and it was very distracting when flying, however I came across with this headphones, and bought it. When I bought the headphones, I tried to put it on the test, and to my surprise it was much better than the other headphones that I had!! My instructor was even happy and couldn’t stop talking about how amazing and much better my new headphones were!! He was happy, I was happy and throughout the flight I didn’t have to move my mic closer to my mouth, and everytime he could hear me clearly. The volume was great!! Size is just perfect, and everything including weight and design is great!! For anyone who is beginning their flight training, as a student pilot like me, I will recommend these headphones, you don’t have to spend $600 or $1000 for a good quality headphone. My instructor told me that these headphones were excellent and I recommend buying these. It’s not that expensive, and it’s 100% worth it!!!

PLEASE READ!!! ACCURATE REVIEW!!!
PLEASE READ!!!! because this is probably the most accurate review you will find about this headset. I say this because I have several friends also with this headset and we've been using it for two years- All have the same opinion about it... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! I gave this a 5-star rating because these are extremely reliable. I used this headset throughout my Private Pilot training and after. Not once in the two years I've been using these did they quit on me, not even for a second. Not a single problem with communication. That is probably what I care about the most because I'm one of those safety prone pilots. But... it's time to get a new one. One thing you need to know about these is that regardless of your head shape or size, they are really uncomfortable. They squeeze against your ears and head with pretty good pressure, which sometimes resulted in some after pain for me (headaches, etc.). Also, these are NOT GLASSES FRIENDLY. Because of the pressure that it squeezes your head with, I literally ALWAYS have to adjust my glasses with it on because it will not allow them to stay straight. Some problems that will occur OVER TIME are... 1. The ear cups WILL FLATTEN out a bit, which makes it worse. 2. The mouth piece arm WILL get loose and it will always be moving away from your mouth. There is no fix for this either. No tightening no nothing. The bottom line is- This is a good headset for beginner training. HOWEVER, if you want to go all the way through ratings like I am, I strongly suggest investing in a better headset because having problems like these are just going to create unnecessary problems and distract you through very important training like instrument and commercial etc.

Exceptional Value
First off, these are not $1000+ ANR headsets so comparing them to one of those is not fair. However I flew with both a top of the line ANR and this set in the same plane on the same day and the over $900 in savings pays for a lot of time flying. I mostly fly a Decathlon and a Sport Cruiser. They are both quite noisy planes for different reasons however this headset performs excellent, sound is very clear, mic picks up well without a lot of background noise. I did put the thicker gel pads on which helped to seal around my sunglasses. In a 172, the difference between the ANR and this headset is all but undetectable. If I had to find a complaint, negative G maneuvers after an hour of flying with the cushions getting wet from sweat, the headset did try to come off a few times. 99.9% of users need not to ever worry about this and there are only a couple options, a chin strap which is uncomfortable or a tighter grip, also uncomfortable. So for that, I will tolerate them sliding up a little and go to a helmet when needing more secure headset.

I like this headset
I've used this headset only a few times so far but it performs alright. The price is what attracted me and for the quality of the sound and the microphone picking up my voice I am pleased. The headset is a bit tight but not uncomfortable. The shorter cord leading from the headset to the jacks does not seem to a factor, I use this headset in a Cessna 172 and so far always in the left seat. I've had other used DC headsets and I find this Kore headset more comfortable and the quality better.

Surprisingly Good Build Quality, but heavy and a bit uncomfortable
Overall these seems like an excellent product, especially for the price. Audio is clear and the mic picks up well once it's adjusted properly. What can I say, they work well and they are 1/3 the price of comparable products from a more established brand. They also have a 5 year warranty, which is more than I would have expected. On the downsides, they are a bit heavy and the standard earpads are not very comfortable. There are some silicone earpads available for a bit extra and they make a significant difference to both the comfort and the noise cancelling.

Parfait

Great headset alternative to Dave Clarke......at almost 30% of the cost
I needed a headset for my passengers.....I looked as most do at Dave Clarke, having used DC for many years.....but I didn’t want to pay the earth and even second hand headsets were ridiculously high on ebay. I made a decision to but the Kore Aviation headset due to the reviews I read......and I’m very pleased I did. Great value and well made.....a little bulkier than DC, but they still fit
