ThunderEase Pheromone Calming Spray for Dogs

Despite being on prescription medication, my Beagle would experience uncontrollable trembling and could not be comforted during rain or thunderstorms. During our spring rainy season, I decided to try ThunderEase out of desperation, and to my surprise, it worked! Now, during heavy rain or thunder, Roxie remains alert and a bit stiff, but she is no longer frightened or trembling. We don't have to use the medication, which had not been very helpful anyway. I simply spray her favorite blanket at the first sign of rain or thunder and wait 10 minutes for it to take effect. There is no residue left behind, and the alcohol scent dissipates within minutes. Given how fearful Roxie was, I honestly did not expect this product to work, but I am so glad that I gave it a try.

This product has been a life saver during thunderstorms and fireworks.

I purchased this spray to help keep my dog, a 3 year old Black Lab mix, calm while traveling for an international move. I purchased it months in advance to see how well it worked and the results were mixed. During vet visits I saw little to no improvement in her nervousness. She still hid under the chair and table. But with getting her used to her travel crate I did see some improvement. But this was only before the move. During our trip to and in the airport I can't say how well it really worked for keeping her calm. She still started howling when they took her back to cargo. So the results were mixed leaning more toward not really working for high stress situations. But I still use it for working with the crate. *Note: my pup is a rescue dog, who had negative experiences in crates prior to me adopting her (ie she was kept in a crate way to small for the first 2 years of her life and kept inside for extended periods of time.) She also had major separation anxiety prior to our move. She is a high energy dog who would run on a 10 acre farm all day.

It works really well in helping my dog settle down. She still gets over-excited at seeing people, other pets, etc. but this stuff really helped with her calming down. This stuff won't stop your dog from getting initially triggered, but it will help with them in relaxing afterwards much sooner.

I hope it works for some dog owners but this has not made a bit of difference in my dogs anxiety/behavior. I tried it in hopes of calming her on car rides. She loves to ride but if tends to get really anxious if we don't go to familiar places. I've used it - just as instructed for several car rides and it's absolutely no difference. I love the "no drug" concept to help with anxiety but this just did not work for us. Since I spent the money I will use it until it's gone but so far nothing. The dog is about an 80lb German Shepherd. I will say that after an initial alcohol smell, I don't notice it. I wait the full 15 minutes before I allow her into the car.

My little girl mixed breed has a few different “fears” that make her nervous occasionally. Of course, thunder is right up there at the very top. The first year after I had rescued her I noticed thunderstorms made her hide underneath beds, furniture or anywhere that made her feel safe. I felt helpless for her and looked up information about dogs being afraid of loud sounds and found this wonderful product Thunder Ease calming spray. A few days later I experimented with it by spraying her surroundings with this odorless pheromone and it honestly worked like a miracle! She falls asleep within minutes and it doesn’t take much to help her. That was 5 years ago and I’m never without this stuff. It’s in a base which contains alcohol and that’s the only odor this stuff has. That smell rapidly evaporates but the pheromone is on her bed or my bed wherever I sprayed it. She just relaxes and goes to sleep for a few hours. It seems to work better on some dogs. I guess I got lucky and I’ll never be without it! I also take it on car trips. It’s really a lifesaver! I purchase the larger size of 60 ml. The bottle I have now is at least a year old and still works fabulously.
