A Must Read for Any Jewelry Lover!
Imagine having to travel to Italy in order to research the Italian jewelry house, known as Bvlgari, to celebrate their Serpenti collection...? How amazing?!Jewelry extraordinaire and author, Marion Fasel did just that when called upon to uncover the past, present and future of Bvlgari's beloved snake friend. When I received the freshly printed hardcover in the mail, each and every page was gleaming with the bejeweled and enameled serpent. I stared for hours. From Vogue covers, to Elizabeth Taylor, to red carpet celebrities and even Diana Vreeland--the visual documentation in this book is amazing. The text takes you on a glorious, 70-year journey, where Bvlgari transforms the motif every decade, all while continually captivating new generations.I learned a lot about the different styles of the Tubogas serpenti watch bracelet--not only are there several collaborations with watch-makers, but different style watch cases, signatures and colors. Starting in 1978, Bvlgari began manufacturing their own watches rather than collaborating with names like Movado, Vacheron, Jaeger-LeCoultre.Marion did a phenomenal job using numerous resources to depict the history of Serpenti and enrich the book with variety. I love this book and it represents Bvlgari beautifully. I recommend it to any jewelry lover, any jewelry historian and especially to those who love snake jewelry!
