A duck for the collection
This duck is based on a design by Hans Bølling, a Danish architect born in 1931. Duck (and the separately available ‘duckling’) was designed in 1959 and inspired by the rescue of a family of ducks lost in the streets of Copenhagen. Traffic was stopped by a policeman and the ducks were able to safely go on their way. With a story like that, it is difficult to leave duck without duckling, so I have also purchased him/her so I have the pair.Duck is lovely and made of teakwood, which is coated with a matte teak oil. It stands stably on a surface and you can turn the head to an extent, making it posable.I have a number of wooden animals like these and they add quirkiness to display areas and look great on shelves, mantelpieces, tables and even on the floor. Duck came in an attractive box, cushioned against damage and with a little card to tell you the inspiration behind its birth. A lovely gift for anyone that likes wooden display items and ducks in particular. I bought it because my Dad always loved ducks, so I do as well.
