Hunting is HARD. Worth the cash anyway.
I was one of those kids that grew up in the 80's and 90's BOTH. I remember the feeling of walking into my 2nd grade classroom and seeing those old Apple computers in the corner, wishing I could play Oregon trail. My friend had one at his house too and we played that thing so much. All these years later, as a grown adult with kids, I can say with relief this game is still fun! My son and I really enjoyed playing it together. It's a great history tool for younger kids too. They packed all the fun of the old 80's computer game into this thing. The case has an authentic look. The power button is a floppy disk! I love it. If you liked Oregon Trail when you were younger or if you want a piece of nostalgia buy this. It's worth it. I will say that the hunting on this is super difficult. It's hard to maneuver and point. Don't let that discourage you, just be warned so you don't get frustrated. Still worth it.

If only the Tiger Handheld games of the 90s were this good
As a retro gamer I would say this is well worth the price. Perfect emulation of the Apple IIe version as far as I can tell, with the exception of the on-screen keyboard to make up for the fact that you can't put a physical keyboard on a handheld. The directional buttons are a little awkward, and the small text might be hard to read for those with vision problems, but neither of these things ruined my experience with this game. The packaging is charming, and is clearly marketed towards older gamers who may have played this as kids back in the 80s. One thing that isn't obvious just from looking is that the floppy disc on the front of the game is actually the on/off button.Overall I am pleased with this, and would recommend it as a gift for older gamers and maybe their kids too.

A handleheld chance to hit the Trail once again! 🖤
The media could not be loaded. A brilliant blast from the past. Talk about nostalgic! The over look of this little unit definitely looks like an old apple 2 and just instantly reminds me of computer day back in school. The picture quality looks just like it did when played on an old apple monitor with just a bit more clarity. The sound is fantastic, not to loud but not to quiet, with three different volume levels. The game obviously plays perfect. Does not skip a beat. I am so glad I got this, both actually. As I did purchase the, Where in The World is Carmen Sandiego unit as well. I'd you get the chance to get your mittens on either, I highly recommend it. Well made. Comfort to hold while playing and gameplay is just brilliant and nostalgic. 5 STARS!! I hope more are released.

Super fun blast from the past in a convenient and fully functioning handheld platform!
This is exactly like the original game with the same graphics in a neat compact handheld setup that is cosmetically appealing to the eyes. I got this as a Christmas gift for my brother and thought it was such a cool gift idea that I bought one for myself. It is super easy to use and to get a game going right away, and the save/game continue features are really nice and super convenient. Very fun to play on the go or just in your spare time. My only somewhat negative review is that the controls could be a little more responsive and designed better, but for the money it seems like it works just as you would expect, which is not bad in any way. Super fun, would recommend as a gift for anyone who enjoyed this title back in the day.

My wife loves this blast from the past.
I managed to miss the Oregon Trail in my childhood, I think it hit schools right after I made it into Middle School or High School so it was not something I grew up with; however, my wife did and she loves playing this game. Apparently I and our dogs die every time she plays but she always makes it to the end. I don't know if I should be worried or not because she only puts me and our dog's names into the game she won't use our kid's names... So from what I understand she is killing me and the dogs off at least once a week, while she makes it to her destination... lolThe quality of the case is very good, the only issue I know that my wife had with it was figuring out how to put names in since you don't get a keyboard with this game just game controls, but even without using the instructions, I believe she figured it out in the first day or two after Christmas.

Seriously Perfect.
I could t think of a better presentation for The Oregon Trail. Classic game in a classic package. The controls are easy to use and remember, the sound is loud and the screen is nice and vibrant. I was surprised how good the screen is, actually. If you’re familiar with the game, you should also remember the need to hunt for food. This is really my only compliant, but not worth taking a star awash from my review. Hunting can be difficult with the controls given, but you get used to it.This isn’t something you’ll be playing for 2 hours, but it’s a nice thing to have on the coffee table when you want to play for 5-10 minutes. Make no mistake, this game is hard and you need a game plan early to survive.

Target exclusive item- don't overpay- but probably worth a little extra for Prime service.
I love the game, but it is a Target exclusive item (the seller has edited the image to remove this info) and should be priced at $25. Nevertheless, I paid $30 and was able to get 2 day shipping here, so I'm not super-offended or anything. Beyond that, the game plays just like I remember it, but the proportions are a bit off and some images look a bit squished. The way the screen displays color can strain the eyes, and it's a small screen and hard to focus on after a while. Luckily, there is a save and continue feature, so you can give your eyes a break and don't have to travel the trail in one sitting. If you want what is probably the best version of the classic game you can get, this is it for now. It's hard not to imagine how easily this entire unit could function as a $5 app download on your phone, though.

Just like the original.
Loved this game when I was a kid but was too young to actually understand it. Playing as an adult and winning on my first try was so much fun! The screen is very small but didn’t hinder me much.
